I read many posts about talk of a new DVC being built.... Does anyone know more about this??? Has WDW "let the cat out of the bag yet???

I don't think DVC is going to make an announcement until SSR is closer to selling out. If they announce a new exciting resort, people may hold off on buying SSR.

Most of what you read or hear is rumor or speculation. The thread will usually start out like this...

" I was talking to my guide the other day and he told me the next DVC resort will be at......" :rolleyes2

And somewhere in the middle it will have some sort of location for the next resort that goes like this....

"....the next DVC resort will be at Disney Land...or, they will dust off the previously announced resort at Eagle Pines...or, the next DVC resort will be on the monorail at the Contemporary near the 1) North Wing, or 2) the tennis courts, or 3) the old airport landing strip...."

Most I think are educated guesses that take some obvious locations and name them as the next resort. I'm working on a rumor right now that I am just making up. Possibly something along the lines of turning Space Ship Earth at Epcot into the next DVC property, or the Castle at M.K. will be expanded into the next DVC resort. You know, my guide was just telling me today.... :lmao:

First, given that DVC is good business for The Walt Disney Company, I think it's safe to say there will be another DVC resort after Saratoga Springs.

There are undoubtedly strategic planners and senior executives in Disney Vacation Development (DVD) who have plans. Maybe the plans have been approved by the execs in Burbank, California, and maybe not.

However, DVC guides, DVC front desk CM's, and DVC kiosk CMs don't know any more than we know. They hear rumors and repeat them — just as we do on this board. The people who really know the plans are dealing with internal, confidential business plans, and they're not talking. Sometimes rumors are based on genuine leaks, but other times rumors are just speculation that takes on a life of its own.

DVD will issue a press release when the time is right — probably when it can no longer be kept a secret because of the need to initiate timeshare registrations in various states and construction contracts.

As far as future off-site DVC resorts are concerned, I don't doubt there are people within DVD who would like to see such an expansion of DVC. There are probably business cases with spreadsheets and PowerPoint presentations. But it won't happen unless execs in Burbank agree that it's the right investment for The Walt Disney Company.

Horace... That is the best explanation I have ever read regarding DVC developing new properties.

Awesome job on your part! :thumbsup2

Regarding the DVC CMs, they seem to be the only CMs, in our experience, that actually admit not knowing anything, and saying that we {non Disney folks} probably know more then they do. Which, is quite a different way of doing business then your average Disney CMs, who seem to enjoy telling us tall tales and outright ********.

One of the problems with off site DVC locations is that they historically don't sell well. It took Hilton Head and Vero Beach longer to sell out than BWV, VWL and BCV and they all opened after the two off site resorts.

I personally feel cheated by this. I bought into DVC with the expectation of many clubs world, or at least USA, wide. I was disappointed when none of that came into fruition. I think if Disney made wonderful resorts around the country folks would go. Now that there are so many members I think there should be more options. Look at the top timeshares like Hilton, Marriott and Hyatt. They are all multi venue, and all of them offer more vacation value than Disney.
I love DVC, and Disney World, but after so long I need new things to look at. I think that letting members have a diverse selection will add to the value of DVC. Heck, I would be happy if there were DVC resorts at every theme park location and nowhere else. I would love to travel to Japan, Hong Kong, Paris or California and be able to stay at DVC resorts at a fraction of the price they are rented to the public. I would also feel more comfortable traveling to these places if I could stay at a DVC resort. I know there's the Disney Collection but they are only hotel rooms and at very inflated prices.
What if there were a timeshare at each location ......Ah but I am only dreaming

icydog, my dad said almost the exact same thing on Monday! He would love to see a DVC at Toyko or Paris ("DLP is out in farmland..."). I totaly agree.

Horace horsecollar siad it right. :thumbsup2

I may think of myself as average, but I don't go around spreading rumors anymore than you do. What's the point? I have been things to do. Like work.
