New use for an old point-and-shoot case

I'm taking a trip to see my brother, who is stationed in Ramstein, Germany, next month! I'm SOO excited! Anyway, I don't want to take my great big slinger bag or my small lens. I thought I was going to have to buy a bag that I could fit inside my carry-on bag. But, with the zoom lens attached, it fits in the old case! I can fit the extra battery and extra memory card in it, and carry the battery charger separately. That just saved me a few bucks!

Any other space saving/money saving tips?

Or, any suggestions on where to visit once I'm over there? We'll most likely drive anywhere we want to go, and I'm only there for 5-6 days.

For Disney lovers- Neuschwanstein Castle. I've been to southern Germany twice for short visits. 1st time was Munich in '85- we went to Dachau and walked around Munich- Marienplatze has the Glockenspeil and the Ratskeller. Dachau was interesting if you like that kind of stuff. 2nd trip was in '07- spent 2 days- toured both Hohenschwangau and Neuschwanstein Castles and took the tram up to the top of the Zugspitze. Drove some of the Romantic Rd-north from the Fussen area where the castles are- the Weis Church(which is just off th Romantic Rd) is a great place to stop if you are in the area- very beautiful church. Southern Germany is a beautiful place!
