new universal commerical

I don't like the commercials either. Tacky. And Fiona (Shrek's chick) is a princess an ugly one, but still a princess.
If they are trying to win over Disney fans I doubt it will work.

As much as I hate their ads, I can do nothing about them and will just sneer and move on when I see them. WDW will always have the "magic". That won't change and no other park can touch them.

there's a pretty 'grown-up' statement.

I think they should focus on advertising what they have at their park. Why people would want to go to THEIR park. Not make digs at Disney. It's childish and a pathetic way of advertising. I'm just glad that sort of advertising is banned over here.
You are totally right. I would like to see a commercial of things that US actually has so that I might make a visit there next time. I liked the old US commercials, they were funny and made me want to visit. The new ones though just seem like rivalry and makes me say everytime, I don't want to move on!

ETA: I also don't understand why people get so bent out of shape and RUDE just because we're talking about commercials. I guess some people just look for any opportunity to be a downer.

one of the taglines of the commercial is 'your family has moved on, isn't it time your vacation did?' IE...Grow Up.

Umm....not sure I get how that line is related to the line you said in your previous post, BUT....if a poll were taken, I'd guess that most families who make regular trips to WDW would say that they don't need to "move on". And again, this wasn't about WDW vs US....this was about Universal's ADS......there is plenty of room in Orlando for both parks...I've said it before. The ads are tacky, IMO....unless I have no right to my opinion. The PARKS, on the other hand, are not tacky and were a great vacation getaway for my family when we couldn't afford WDW. My 16 yo loves both parks for different reasons. My 12yo is a WDW fanatic. I hate that tagline. It makes no sense....WDW was intended for children of ALL ages...2-92......Which is why I think Universals commercials remind me of a spoiled rotten snotty nosed kid.

the entire tone of this thread and it's Universal bashing is a 'downer'.

It's not Universal "bashing". Anyone could tell that by reading it. It's the commercials that a lot of people don't like. I don't like the commercial. I like Universal fine, I just don't see the point of "bashing" Disney to get people to come to your park.

Little girls don't grow up and want to be hideously ugly ogres. Little boys don't want to kiss hideously ugly ogres.

Who wants to grow up to be a princess? BOOOORRIINNG.

And I did turn out to be closer to the ogre.

As for the topic...

it's JUST a commercial.

Good grief, that's not Special Patrol Group the Hamster up above, is it?

go back and read the posts. once again, they're generally made by people who have never and have no desire to step foot on UO property.

No...you are definitely the "downer" here. You have thrown yourself into a thread that you totally disagree with and yet refuse to stay away. No one is bashing Universal, the park.....we are only stating an opinion on the commercials. You are here, my friend, to people bash. And that is the DOWNER. If this thread needs to close, then so be it. If I can't come on here and innocently state my opinion in a respectable way without someone like you bashing my opinion, then so be it. I'll be sure to steer clear of you in other threads. Thank Goodness I don't live with you.

umm. i just went back and reread the posts and maybe you should go back and reread them because i read that people liked the old US commercials but think the new ones are "tacky" and that there is plenty of room for other parks in Orlando other than US but the commercials are "tacky". I really wish I knew how to do that multiple post thing.

I've been to US. It's fun. But I don't like the new commercials. I also think they are tacky.

Not true. I've been a par tof this thread from the beginning. I've read every post. Not true.

Ya know, I'm done with this thread...what was a nice polite forum for expressing an opinion on a silly commercial has turned into nothing but a one person people bashing thread. I think its much more important to play with my little princess who refuses to go to bed just yet. At least the feel in my HOUSE is a happy one.

ETA: I'm purty darn proud of where I'm from..and I love Florida, so I'll be the nice one here and not bash your home state.

I think Special Patrol Group is a stupid name for a hamster!

Gosh, How many times are we going to rehash this. If you don't like the commercial, turn the channel. I, for one, think they are very funny.

people bashing? you're attacking my integrity. I merely responded to your choice of location.

I'm throwin' in the towel. This is utterly ridiculous and a tad bit below me. Its too bad someone feels the need to turn an innocent thread into something nasty.
