New Tusker or Cape May?

for an upcoming trip, I've got a split day planned and I'm torn between a late lunch at the new Tusker house or an early dinner at Cape May. We'll be on the dining plan.

I should add Boma is one of my favorite places to dine. I've heard Tusker house is kind of similar. We're already planning a dinner at Boma one night, but we really love it there.

On the flip side, I've never dined at Cape May. Maybe because I'm from New England and figured any 'clambake' south of the Mason-Dixon line just CAN'T be a REAL clambake. I've never dined there though and it looks like a nice place. Two years ago, we tried to get a walk-up table, but they were all booked.

I'd also like to hear any other suggestions you may have in the Epcot resort area.

I'd try Tusker House myself. My only regret from our trip last month was that my DS needed to nap so I had to cancel our Tusker House ADR! We don't like Cape May's dinner at all ... it's a shame because we love BC but we've tried it a couple times and it has been inadequate.

I prefer TH to Cape May. We also had a late lunch at TH and it was fantastic. Boma is one of my absolute favorites and similar to TH in that it has a lot of African inspired dishes. I dined at both restaurants my last trip and had no "deja' vu."

I'll be the lone dissenter and choose Cape May over Tusker House.

We did a lunch there in December. It was okay, but definitely not worth the hassle of waiting half an hour past opening before they would let people in. I know you are going to a late lunch, so maybe you won't have the problem.

However, I have to say that I just wasn't impressed with the menu. But I think that's because we have eaten at Boma and I love Boma. There were some similar-type dishes, but overall, I just wasn't wowed by it and neither was the rest of my family.

So we won't be back to Tusker House, at least for lunch. DH would like to try breakfast, but he's character-crazy. I'm not sure when we'll get there.

Now, we LOVE Cape May for dinner, but we aren't from the NE. And I've heard some NE natives give Cape May a hard time about it...but you have to remember that everything, even Tusker House, is Disneyfied. I just think Cape May has a great variety of foods. I've never had any issues with underdone or overdone or had anything not meet my expectations.

As with all opinions, mine will vary from everyone else's, but I thought I'd give you a balanced look-see.

Well, I'm from NE and I really enjoy Cape May. It's NOT a clambake by any means.

I like the shellfish they have there, and the shrimp is always nice too. The non-seafood side of the buffet has very nice ribs and a lovely chicken. Not sure what they do to that chicken, but it's delicious. There is always a nice selection of vegetables and other side dishes, including pasta. They have a carved beef, but I'm not a huge beef person so can't comment on that.

The children's corner is popular with everyone. There is pizza there and some very nice chicken tenders (along with the usual standards).

I really enjoy Cape May for what it is, not for what I think it should be! LOL.

We did a breakfast at the Tusker House back in December and it was really delicious! They had such a variety of food and it was a good experience for us overall.

I would recommend the TH anyday!

Would have to vote also for Tusker House. Kevin from the podcast refered to it as "Boma Lite".:)

"Boma- Lite" - that's exactly a perfect descriptionm of it. I was very happy with our lunch there. It was a nice break from the same old same old I felt we dealt with last trip/

Thanks all for the helpful opinions. I think we've decided to set up ADR's at Tusker House for this trip, but partially because I think it's going to fit in to our schedule better.

I do appreciate all the opinions though, especially the dissenters:Zulaya and DVC~OKW~96. Even though we're siding withthe majority in this case, it's still helpful to hear a variety of opinions. We may yet add an ADR for Cape May on another night.
