New TTC Thread

Hey everyone, it's been a long time since I posted here but I've been trying to keep up with the thread when I have time. Sounds like a lot has happened, both good and bad. It's now been officially 9 months since I stopped my treatments and decided to take a break from it all. I was hoping something would happen naturally by now, but dang I just turned 35 last month and I am starting to panic. I know time is running out.

I will probably go see an RE soon if I can work up the nerve to do it. The thought of endless appointments and tests again just makes me want to cry, and insurance won't cover much more than what I've already done, so part of me is like "why bother," you know? Plus everything was putting a strain on our marriage for a while, too. I just have to decide how far I'm willing to go with the TTC business, how much I'm willing to sacrifice.

Chloe: I'm so sorry to hear about your news. That is awful.

kurby: My brother is 8 years younger than me and we are really close, always have been. My husband has a brother 1 year younger than him, and another 3 years younger, and they have never been close, and rarely speak. Their personalities just don't mesh that well. So if you want another child, don't be discouraged by time gaps. They don't necessarily mean what you think. Also, I'm not overweight and STILL can't get pregnant, so even losing weight isn't a guarantee in the crazy world of infertility. I know plenty of overweight friends who had no troubles getting and staying pregnant.

Welcom back Si-am. Missed ya! I know what you mean about "how far you want to take this TTC thing." I feel the same way some days.
Don't feel that 35 is running out of time. Its never too late until Meno sets in officially.


Kurby - Don't worry about age difference. My sis and I are 2 years apart and have never been close. Age truly doesn't make the relationship. Right now I have 4 years between my boys and if another child did come along it would be 7 yrs for him/her. My DH and his brother are 7 years apart and were just fine growing up and now are very close. You just never know.

Skuttle - After my IUI I got a very, very faint BFP on day 14. Don't give up hope yet.

Si-am - Thanks for the comments on the age gaps. Youngest DS will be 8 in October and that is a huge worry of mine. It is nice to hear positive stories.

I'm trying not to give up yet. Last cycle I started spotting on CD31 and AF arrived on CD32. Today is CD31...nothing yet. I"m actually out of HPT...I"m going to have to run to the Dollar Tree later today, I guess. I was really starting to think I was having symptoms...wishful thinking, I suppose.

I had 4 Clear Blue digital tests left over from a few months ago, so I've been using those...then taking them apart to actually try to see the lines to see if maybe there was a faint line. Nothing so far.

I do have a question for those of you that have had IUI. On the Friday, I had a positive OPK around 11am or so. On Saturday, before I went in for my follicle scan, I did another OPK and it was positive again...this was around 8am. I know they were both positive for sure because I used the smilie face OPK. I had a lot of cramping on Saturday. I had trigger around noon on Saturday. Then on Sunday I had IUI...no cramping at all on Sunday. I'm wondering if I O'd on Saturday since I had the cramping. I know a lot of people say that they can feel O more when on Clomid. Would the trigger cause cramping?

Hopefully the timing will work this month so that all of this doesn't happen on a weekend!

Skuttle so sorry that didn't work out. I started my cycle today, which I knew was coming, but you know that tiny part of you always seems to hope. It has been a crummy week for us ladies. I went onto www.babyhopes.com today and got some things which I am going to try. I don't go to the dr until Sept 4th so I may as well be proactive until she tells me what our next step should be.

Baby Dust ladies. Hopes were dashed this month but we will start again and things will get better!!

Never did my IUIs with trigger so not sure. I could definitely feel the discomfort of O and which ovary was going to go that month.

Hi Everyone!

I was home today just catching up on some home things, laundry, finances solving the world's problems in general. . .you know. . . Anyway I had to call BCBS of IL on a matter with my DH's coverage. While on there I figured I would ask about infirtility coverage and looks like that IL mandates that you be covered for infertility testing and proceedures so I'm covered. Then it turns out the woman I spoke to had had her own infertility story and it was incredible and very uplifting. She was lovely and gave me her extension as well so that after I see the Dr. in September the BCBS lady told me to call her so she will tell me how much is covered and also explain more if I need it. She was very sweet.

So that's my good news for today. There are acutally nice health insurance people.

esbrick-that's great that you're covered.

2 days of injections down (about to be 3 in about half an hour). So far fairly smooth. I do 6 days like this. On the 7th day, I switch to using ganirelix as my liquick, with the same other drugs, instead of just saline. I go in tomorrow morning for them to check my estrogen.

No, it never does get easier, unfortunately. I held it together all day yesterday, but last night laying in bed, I just lost it. I guess I didn't have anything to distract me. It's just so frustrating. You can do all of the procedures and tests, take all of the meds, do everything you are "supposed" to do, but still it doesn't work! I don't think I'm telling anyone IRL about this next IUI. It's just too hard to go through the 2ww with people asking me "how do you feel? do you feel pregnant?" And then, after 2 weeks, have to explain that it didn't work. Only to hear those dreaded words...It'll happen, just relax. No, it's not going to just "happen". After 3 years, it would have happened by now. Ugh!

Courtney...I hope you continue to well on your meds!

Esbrick...Great news about your insurance. One less thing to worry about while TTC never hurts!

I'll be calling my Dr tomorrow to find out the plan for this cycle. I'm thinking she may up my clomid to 100mg. Guess I'll find out tomorrow.
