Congrats Dznylvr2005! Girls are wonderful. Any names picked out, yet?

We had our appointment with the doc today. He wanted to just wait for this cycle to end (I'm already on day 12, so probably another month), and if I'm not pregnant, then I'm headed off to RE. He didn't want to try Femara without my seeing them first. So, I'm hoping this month-long break from temping and everything will end up like my last break.....with a BFP. Can't hurt to hope.

Dznylvr - congrats! A girl sounds like fun! I think my chances of a girl are slim to none. In my husbands family, there have been at least 6 generations with only boys :)

Congrats Dznylvr! I'm totally partial to girls. I hope I have another one!

I want to start TTC #2 next May, I think, but I have been doing research about hyperemesis, and my prospects of not having it again don't look great.

I found out from my dr's office that the insurance has approved going directly to IVF! I can't believe it. We are going from doing nothing to having a ton to do in the next month.. I am kind of in shock and scared to death.. yikes!

Amy Lyn, that's wonderful news!!! I hope that first IVF gives you a beautiful baby!!

Jen, maybe it's your turn to break the boy cycle and have a girl!

My doctor's appointment was Monday. She said that I'm very healthy and that she's excited for me to start trying.
The stupid girl that takes blood pressure got on my nerves. She looked at my chart and said, "Are you SURE you want to have a baby at 21?" And I said, "I've been with my husband for over 7 years, yeah I'm pretty sure we're ready." And she goes  "You're married??"
Then she went on to tell me she was engaged at 18 and broke up with her fiance 2 weeks before the wedding, and then got pregnant a few months later by another guy....Ooooooooookay. Good for you. :rolleyes2

It's nobody's decision but me and my husband, and we've thought long and hard about it, and waited until we've been married for a year and sure that we're financially stable.

Anyway, sorry for the rant. :headache: Last night DH and I decided to start trying in April. I ovulate so late in the month that it will almost be May, and I'm hoping to be in my second trimester by the time we go to Disney in September, so one month early to start trying won't hurt. I'm sure it won't happen right away.

Today was the first high fertility day on my monitor! :yay: At least I know I'm ovulating at the right time, so hopefully that's good.

Well, 1 more week till I meet with RE :) YAY! I'm so excited....I just hope to get started before April :) I don't have AF again until the end of March and I'm not sure if I'll have to wait on that or not? We're going back to Disney in Sept/October and I really wanted to be 5-6 months at that point as that seems to be my magical number (no morning sickness after 5 or 6 months, have some energy back by then and the baby bump :) I'm just glad to be getting started though.

Well the results of the Clomid Challenge were not encouraging. It would appear that I have low ovarian reserve on top of everything else. We are still going to do another IUI this month even though doc put my chances of conceiving at 5%. Sigh. It looks like we will doing IVF in a couple of months. I get sick thinking of spending all that money. Doc is starting me on DHEA supplements. Anyone else here of this for treating infertility?

Beth, sorry you didn't get the news you were hoping for. What's low ovarian reserve? I've never heard of that before.

It means I got bad eggs! :sad2: Low egg count or eggs of poor quality that prevent an embryo from implanting, which explains the chemical pregnancy. Why can't I just be normal???

Yeah! Good luck! It only makes sense not to waste time and money on other things when their chance of success is so small and you would end up having IVF anyway!

Lots of luck to you!

That stinks, Beth. I have never heard of DHEA supplements.

Allison hope you are doing well this week!

My husband & I see the doctor today to discuss TTC for the first time...wish us luck. Will keep you all posted.

Good luck Allie! Don't let him rush you, and make sure you have questions written down in advance so you don't forget something.

I've searched the net and keep coming up the wrong information. So I'm hoping you all can help me.

I'm TTC through IUI. This is the 3rd round (and maybe the last) so today I went in for my US to see if I was close to ovulating. I wasn't quite ready (17 instead of 18 to 24 with the eggs) so they gave me a syringe so I can do an hcg shot tomorrow evening and then come in on Monday for my IUI.

My question is...what the heck will the shot do to me? I asked at the docs office and they said it will just help get my hormones to the right place. So I nodded and left. But after I left I wondered what, if any effects I would feel from the shot between saturday night and monday morning.

So if any of you experienced TTCers can give me some insight I would love it!

thanks,

I also had the shot when we were TTC using Clomid and u/s monitoring. They would have me do the shot in the evening and then BD 12 hours later, so it sounds like a similar protocol. They basically told me it would just help out the process, but were not very specific. I didn't notice any side effects.

Good luck!

Aww Beth :( I am so sorry you got that news. I have not even heard of that treatment, but I wish you all the best

Allie and Tara (welcome to the group), good luck!

I have not heard of this treatment. However, the month I conceived my one & only birth son (after many IUIs and Clomid treatments) was the month the Dr told me "I might have a better chance of winning the lottery than conceiving" as they thought I was going into early menapause. Just goes to show you that you never know. Best of luck to you!

Well, we went to the doctor today. He is taking me off my BCP's today and 24 days from now, I go in for blood work and other tests & they will check my progesterone levels.

We will be using donor sperm so I think we'll be doing the IUI route. He said that once they get me ovulating correctly, we'll figure out a plan of attack.

One thing he mentioned was a clomid challenge. What is this?

Aw, Beth...so sorry! Hopefully IVF will work for you the first try! Try not to think about the $$...just think about the priceless baby you'll have at the end of it all. :goodvibes Easier said than done, I know...but it can't hurt to try!

Hey Denae! Doing okay. Still struggling with my BFF giving birth on Tuesday. So many emotions. I'm trying to stay focused on BDing (today's CD12 so we're in prime time! LOL!). Can I add that I feel so stupid saying BFF, but it's a lot easier to type every time than best friend.

Allie...sounds like y'all have a plan! I'm not exactly sure what the clomid challenge is as I haven't gone down that road yet, but I'm assuming it's a round of clomid? Not sure if it's something special or not. I'm sure someone will have an answer, though!

Tara, Good luck!!

Allie--Clomid Challenge: They take your blood on day 3 of your cycle and check your FSH--Follicle Stimulating Hormone. You take your clomid on day 5-9 of your cycle and then they draw your blood again on day 10. This gives them an idea of your ovarian reserve. I hope you have good eggs!

Thanks for all your support, everyone! I am actually leaving for a three week business trip Monday, so we won't do an IUI this month, or any other month. I am looking forward to a little TTC break--and no more clomid!! I am sick of hot flashes!

I am going to take the DHEA supplements (may help me lose weight, too!) and try actupuncture and working on my health all around and then do IVF, probably in June.

Good luck to everyone!
