New Tsa xray machines and patdowns

Seriously, I have a right to be skeeved out by the naked images, really I do. I have a pretty close to perfect hourglass shape and I didn't sign up to be a model or a stripper, thankyouverymuch. I get cat called enough wearing clothes, I don't need to know that there are men looking at my body without them.

It bothers ME, so I am not going to do it, and will be very angry if it becomes a requirement in the future, because it is MY privacy, and MY body.
Your physical 'attributes' have no bearing here. Please refrain from constantly bringing them up. Many women have 'peek worthy' attributes. Has no bearing here.

This is just so insulting to me, I have no idea how to respond. I expected better from a mod.

hey its your right, if you don't want to go in them. I have no issue with it so ill be using them as it will get me through the process faster then a pat down.
Actually, today I got through quicker. When I was directed to the line, I told the ID checker who sent me there, that I'd be opting out. He called for a supervisor, who made me go next through the WTMD and do my search.

I was through and on my way while the person who was in line in front of me was holding up her hands.

You, personally, have mentioned your 'attributes' twice here..post 63 and post 78. What did I say that was insulting to you?? You are the one who, pretty much, told everyone that you would be the type woman that would have TSA agents printing out your 'photos'....I did, nor said anything, insulting to you. What you said was insulting to TSA agents as well as to other women. I can not believe that any TSA agent is out there printing out scanner shots....of any 'type' woman.
If you, or anyone else here, has an issue with my moderating, please bring it to the attention of admin.

Ok, if it wasn't insulting, then how was I supposed to respond? Really, what is the legitimate response that you were hoping for me to say? Or were you hoping I just disappear?

You don't know me.

Is it possible to ask to close this thread? It just seems like its causing trouble and I honestly did not mean to start anything and just wanted know what people's experience was. It has evolved to much beyond that.

I don't think it was insulting. IMO you were trying to show off by how great you look.

Yes, sure, show off. It had nothing to do with this:

That I can't say.....I really have no problem with someone seeing my 'bits'...if that's the way they get their jollies, then have at it. Slightly overweight middleaged woman shouldn't be worrying about that. But, that's me....many others have different feelings..and that's their perogative.

Oh, would you look at that. If slightly overweight middleaged women shouldn't be worrying about it, then who should be?

Ive never used the scanning machine, Nor Do I want to. Id rather have the pat down. They did have scanners when I was leaving Omaha, I just stepped out of line & went into the patting section, noone said anything to me about it. The pat down was much quicker, the guy who was in front of me in the scanning line was still waiting to be able to collect his bags while I was already done with everything & half way to the gate. So the scanners are definitely not quicker.

If we could please get back to the original issue, it would be most appreciated. Body shapes have nothing whatsoever to do with this subject. If a passenger feels, for any reason, that they do not want to do the full scan, then they have the option of a pat down.
Get it back on track people or it will be shut down.

Speaking of scanning machines... does anyone know the shipping time of these puppies? :confused3

(and granted, they're still leaving your backside exposed... but it's a start. I'm all for security, but I'm also a huge fan of privacy.) :worship:

Those scanners arent just using xray they also form the image through a millimeter wave with minimal radiation. I have seen pregnant woman go through them.. and the last time I went through it the employee/guard on the other side was atleast 6 months pregnant.

Im an xray tech, I work with radiation daily. I can most likely guarantee the dose is so minimal and slight it would not even register on my radiation badge. If it was a significant dose they would NOT be using it. If a healthcare worker say an xray tech like myself gets too much exposure they would be taken our of their position to stay away from the radiation. We are only allowed up to a certain dose per year. And I have never come close to my exposure dose.

Seriously??? Does anyone really truly think that that photo is an accurate representation of the 'photo' taken in security???
Man, it amazes me to see how stuff gets blown out of proportion in life.

Yup. :thumbsup2

Besides, it's amazing that we can simply do internet searches for the images and some of them are VERY, VERY detailed. (so no, really, how are the images not being saved?!) :confused3
Please post links to these 'very, very detailed' images. I have yet to see anything that makes me uncomfortable when either I or my 17 y/o dd go through the machines. But, one person's idea of 'detailed' may very well not be the same as someone else's.

+1, seriously. People just take stuff and run with it with zero proof. But nothing anyone will say will change someones mind. If they really believe that their Xray photo places their privacy at risk (again I don't buy that at all, if you have any social networking site your at a higher risk for privacy issues then an xray)

Might as well lock this thread down.

So here's my question for you, and I mean absolutely no disrespect.

Are you an employee of the TSA?

Nope....stay at home mom. And no one in my family works for the TSA. I don't even know anyone (that I know of anyway) that works for the TSA.
My issue is that many people come here with 'info'...then others take that info as gospel and run with it....only to find that it wasn't true to begin with.
I only ask for links to photos that would give us reason to believe that any TSA photos are clear enough to deem them copy worthy..that's all. I have no issue with being proven wrong. I just haven't seen any proof that there are TSA photos, taken of passengers, that are all that good.
I'm all for privacy. But, this is one instance where I just don't think my personal privacy is at issue. That is NOT to say that others may feel differently. I have done theater work that involved less than full street clothing..so my privacy level is probably a lot different than most peoples.

To be fair, about half, if not more, of the information you find on the Internet -- heck -- half of all communications between people regarding negative perceptions -- works that way. Between taking one's own personal perspective as the only possible reasonable perspective, taking one's own personal experience as the only experience anyone could have had, and taking one's own personal perspective as the only standard of goodness possible, you've got the majority of everything that isn't backed-up by peer-reviewed research. Our society feeds on innuendo, sensationalism, criticism without foundation, and the conversion of ubiquitous nay-saying into an ethic. To be clear: I'm saying that you're absolutely right, but that what you've said in regard to this issue is generally true of practically all criticism, complaining, and other negativity we encounter.
