New TS restaurant at AK?????

Has anybody else heard this before?

My family and I were at Animal Kingdom today and got talking with a CM. Well I mentioned that I wished there were TS restaurants at AK and she said that they are building one in Asia. It will be Asian inspired and definitely will be a TS restaurant.

Well, when we went over to the Asia side, there were blocked off area's that said we are improving this area for your later enjoyment, or something close to that (sorry I don't have any pictures ).

She also said that it would be opening sometime around November, or close to that time, right in time for the holiday season I suppose. Oh, and also that it will be 2 stories.

If this is true, and it did come from a CM, then I will be so excited to try it out.

That would be great! Too late for our upcoming trip in Sept. Will just have to try it on another trip!

Its true. I believe Disney has announced plans for an Asian themed TS at DAK. Plus, they are building a dinosaur themed restaurant called "T-Rex" at Downtown Disney. Think Rainforest Cafe but with Dinos (which would have been cool at Dinoland but oh well.)

I don't believe so, if I remember what I read they will be run by the same company that runs Rainforest Cafe and since Rainforest isn't on the dining plan I doubt either of the two new restaraunts will be either.

That's correct. The new restaurant will be operated by Landry's, not Disney.

Since there will finally be a TS restraurant at the AK, that most likely will be the end of the DDE discount at CS at AK. As an DDE holder, I always liked that perk for CS places at this one park.

Right.....I almost forgot. The CM that origanilly told me about the new restaurant mentioned that the company that runs The Rainforest Cafe will run this new one.

She said think of it as Rainforest Cafe meets Asia. Should be interesting. I can't wait , but it will be so crowded when it first opens (during a very busy time of year). I wonder how they will handle ADR's.

That may not be the case if the full service restaurant in not owned by Disney. Let's keep our fingers crossed!

I asked about the new restaurant while I was making my ADR's for November and she said it would definitely not be completed before our trip and was not expected to open until 2007.

Rainforest Cafe is already there and it is a table service, so maybe not. I too would be disappointed to lose the DDE discount at the Animal Kingdom counter services.
