New Transfer Rules for Borrowed and Banked Points.

I have to compare but one thing I notice is that it mentions not being able to use them without a direct ownership from DVd.

Could this be DVc closing the loophole that owners of restricted resorts can get access to them via transfer???

NEVER MIND…it’s not different!!

I read that as not allowing transferred resale points to be used for membership extras… like buying an AP maybe?

Among other things, I believe it means you cannot wash dirty points by transferring them. For example, if the points, at their source, are not eligible to e.g. book Riviera, then the transferee likewise cannot use them to book Riviera.

I recall that language being there before; I don't think that's new.

yes you’re right… that language was already there.

It just appears to be new rules allowing reservation points, holding points, banked and borrowed to be transferred. Plus transferred points to be borrowed.

What I do find interesting is that this is for the multi site POS and there is NO update for booking procedures, or rentals.

And these addendums are typically submitted in December.

Not to say we won’t see another one…but we need to monitor closely now!!

Are there any downsides that anyone can think of that may come from this?

Just that if fewer points are going to waste, then more rooms are getting booked up. If you think availability is tight already, things might get even tougher...

Just to clarify, can OTUP purchased from Disney be transferred to your other memberships? To a 3rd party?

I figure DVD/Disney is eager to clear up any and all breakage they can muster, so hopefully this just means owners have more flexibility moving points around and we don’t see much difference in availability from the change.

This is the only other part of the document that is different. It has an added ability to transfer for exchanges...the bolded part is what is new.

During a given Use Year, only one (1) Transfer per Club Member or Club membership, either as Transferee or Transferor, will be permitted, unless the transfer is for the sole purpose of booking an External Exchange reservation and the Home Resort Vacation Points are beingimmediately used to complete the reservation.

The one thing they did not do is put in the rules that owners may transfer unlimited times between memberships they own, so that remains at DVC's discretion....
