Hello!
I consider myself fortunate enough to have seen an advance screening of Treasure Planet last Saturday! It was a test by the local distributor of the film to see how it may fare locally next month... I still can't beleive I actually got invited!
Anyway... This movie is definitely what Atlantis should have been if proper funding had been available. Tons of action, good script, great characters (although not realy memorable), funny moments, a lot of CGI animation (which I like

) . The best part is the production design -the 17th century look in the far off future- right down to costumes, weapons, vessels, way of life. The designs for the alien characters are also very imaginative.
The story follows the events as per Robert Louis Stevenson's novel, but with some twists and a slightly different ending -hey! the whole space & aliens thing needs to be accomodated.
My personal take? Lilo & Stitch was great fun, but this one takes my vote as the most spectacular Disney animated film in quite a long time. The downside: it may not play well to small children. Some in the theater were scared by the an evil alien, plus it has several sequences which may be intense for the younger set.
In summary... the buzz in the theater when it ended was that it is an excellent movie. Most persons I talked to said they can't wait to see it again. I hope Disney does a good homework in marketing and promotion... this movie REALLY deserves it, IMHO.
