New Trade Warning

I have just been made aware of a new scam. (new to me at least, I have never heard of this one before ;) )

Two members set up a trade on the boards, but someone else showed up implying they were the poster who agreed to the trade. While the OP of the trade did not get scammed, this trade was STOLEN from the other member.

PLEASE make sure you know the VMK name of the player that will be making the trade with you. This will be the only way to stop the "pirating" of trades.

As much as I like pirating, this doesn't sound like such a nice thing to do.

But I do have several questions.

Scenario:

Will, the Original Poster, is offering Item X for a trade. Elizabeth makes an offer which Will hasn't responded to. Jack is also offering Item X and rather likes the offer that Elizabeth has. Is it OK for Jack to come in and pm Elizabeth saying that he would like to do the trade? Or would this also be considered as stealing the trade away from Will?

I think it all would depend on if "Will" agreed to "Elizabeth's" trade... If he didn't, Jack is fine to trade Elizabeth, but if not, Jack cannot steal the trade from Will. Whenever I trade on here, i always use first come, first serve, once i have the offers and i find a couple i like that are of equal value, I always go by who posted first, but that's just me.

:sad2: Thats horrible to be so rude as to steal anothers trade.

Shame.

That is kind of rude and dumb. Tisn't very nice either. Stealing is against the rules you know. I hope the DIS boards and VMK be safe, forever! :thumbsup2
:hippie: :grouphug: :cheer2: pirate:

Here's a free bump! :headache: This must be what the DIS moderators are feeling trying to go through all these scams, with a new one being created weekly probably. :scared1:

As long as the Original Poster has refused the offer, I see no problem contacting the other person. You aren't pirating an offer if the thread starter denies it. IMHO, the offer is fair game once first refusal has been made.
