I read on here that the soft opening of Tower 4 was today (I'm a CM, but they don't actually tell us anything...) so a friend and I got up and headed on over to the Studios this morning. I asked a CM at the tower if they wer testing the new sequence, and in grand Tower tradition he answered "I don't know, the building is very moody and unpredictable...." I took that to be a yes. The ride was awesome. We rode three different times and got two different sequences. I can't remember the particulars of each, but here's what stood out. On the first ride the car shot up instead of down when it got into the drop chute. It paused in front of an o*****h area in the chute where there was a little girl figure singing "It's raining it's pouring...." with a gust of cold air. Then on the second one, which I thought was a little better, the ride went down toi the bottom, paused, and then started showing the video clip, then shot all the way back up to the top. For both I was up out of my seat from the G-Forces for almost the whole thing, and the sound effects were great. it sounded like the tower itself was groaning and laughing at it's victims. It all really adds to the effects. I give it two thumbs up :p

Oh geez...It took me awhile to figure out why it was bleeping my description of the ride, but now I understand *lol* I said that it was an open-ish area...and I guess the computer has a dirtier mind than I do....

all I can say is "I wanna try it" (OK, that is a whine, but please permit me)

:bounce:

We're planning a trip for Mardi Gras '03, and my family asked me if there were any new additions we had not seen since MG02, and I couldn't think of anything spectacular off the cuff...

BUT NOW...I'll tease them with the new Tower info. I'm looking forward to the changes!

Now I am bummed! We were there just last week and they apparently had not completed the changes yet. The second set of elevators were down and not being used during our stay. I assumed that they were making changes. Now I can't wait for my trip in June 03!

When we were there in October --- I'm pretty sure that in one shaft I could make out the shadowy figure of a woman/girl.... in the other shaft it looked like several figures standing together.... of course, they weren't supposed to be noticed yet, but I'd been looking for evidence of upcoming changes and wondered what the final effects would be.

Sounds great!!!!!!

I have always noticed the figures. Of course, I have only ridden maybe twice in 1995 and in Oct of this year. But I remember the figures being there in '95. I also liked the ride a lot better in '95, so I'm in great hopes that when we go back in Jan. I will like the new sequences better.

Your descriptions sound so cool - can't wait to go back in June!!

My family has always loved ToT. However we loved it best when it first opened. We felt that each time it was changed, the thrill was lessened, possibly for other guests who didn't like as much of a thrill as we did.

So, my question is, are the new Tower sequences more thrilling than the previous ones? Are there more surprises and more large drops?

Thanks for any info!

I rode four times on Wed, and got four different rides... and none met the description that you gave (so I haven't seen it all!!!)
One of mine included an olfactory effect... not sure what it was supposed to be, but it *did not* smell like rubber, burning or otherwise. As far as not being told anything, it really depends on who you know and who you talk to, of course being in the parks seems to be different than being elsewhere on property, and I find out much more about MK than anywhere else.

Hoping to make a trip in May, and am very much looking forward to this. Especially since we might be too early for Space and/or Philharmagic.

I rode it on saturday, and since I LOVE this ride, I know EXACTLY what it does......so when we went in a completely different direction than it usually does, I was like YESS!!!! haha I can't remember much of it except the place where the figures are and stuff........but I can say it was GREAT!!!!!

.... do they get this version, or is it better to give them what we had, then up-grade in a few years to give it a fresh feel- something that will draw people back into DCA ???
