this just goes in line with all the new upcharges.
The person implementing these charges is a member (in good standing) of the P.T.Barnum Society,

I agree with everything you said, I do not like Tony's, but so what, there are places others don't like and we love, we all just have our favorites and when others don't, we have a better chance of getting our ADR's. It's just the craziness of all the "extra" costs for a better view that gets me. If people would stop paying this, Disney would stop continiously offering them. For us, paying more is a waste and senseless, for others dropping $280 for 4 for a view and a dessert, etc means nothing.Yeah yeah. Everyone wants to dis Tony's but I LOVE Tony's! We eat there every trip! If they make this a hard place to get in to I'm gonna be mad. Luckily there might be enough of you that hate it. I'll keep my fingers crossed.
I think you'll be fine. My confirmation for the Tusker House Jungle book package also says that this restaurant does not participate in the ddp. But the website indicates it does.I just made a reservation for this event and my email confirmation said this restaurant does not participate in the Disney Dining Plan. Yet the blog post stated that 1 table-service entitlement on the DDP could be used for it. When I called an spoke with a Cast Member, after much searching, she stated that the DDP will be accepted for this reservation. Has anyone received the same information? I won't be happy if we get there and- surprise!- they don't take the DDP.
I just read the fine print that it comes with an "I Ate at Tony's and Lived" t-shirt. Now I'm really conflicted...

I actually am a freak that enjoys Tony's but what concerns me most about these extras is being charged twice. How far are we from a dining package and a 'free FP+ for 7DMT ' ? You know something that you would expect is covered by your ticket the ability or hope that at some point during your delightful vacation you may get to ride the attractions. The ticket price may soon open the door or spin the Mickey head. The attractions are extra...
SAME HERE!!The main problem with this package is that you have to eat at Tony's. I'd rather pay $45/person to NOT eat at Tony's.

Yup, me too!I'd rather run with the bulls and take my chances for a parade spot than pay extra money to eat at Tony's.I don't care how good the spot for MSEP is!

No kidding! They're coming up with ridiculous ways to make money. One example is that MK package for $69 that allows you to have breakfast plus ride 3 rides. For $69? You cant be serious!!!TONY's did it once, and only once, that was enough..Disney quit trying to make money on every thing, you are totally taking away from the "Magic" you try so hard to sell.

I want that shirt! I ate there once and it was awful, but I survived!I agree. Tony's has never been on my radar, but with the addition of the appetizer and if you're on the ddp, it might be worth it.I think these "packages" are a perk for people on the DDP... on one hand all people talk about is how the DDP is not a good value. Disney adds some value in at no additional cost to the plan and people talk about how they are trying to charge for things that they shouldn't. Right now there are a bunch of things that are a good value on the DDP and they come with some perks like priority seating - F! packages and AK nighttime packages and now this package... all for the same 1TS (though we will see how long that lasts). I don't see what is wrong for providing an incentive to eat at a restaurant that is perpetually under filled (of course maybe making the food good might help too). No one is forcing anyone to pay to see MSEP or forcing anyone to eat at Tony's or forcing anyone to upgrade to the package. As a very infrequent visitor now (every 2+ years) I appreciate the opportunity to inject a little more magic into my visit for not a ton of money and will book the F! package, RoL package (if it becomes a thing) and CP package all under DxDDP. I will not be at MK during the day on any MSEP nights and have no desire to eat at Tony's so I will leave this one alone and take my chances with staking out a spot for the parade in advance.
Disney certainly comes up with creative ways to charge multiple times for the same things, I will give them that. How many times do we have to pay to see a parade and fireworks? It would be funny if it were not so ridiculous.
No thanks, Disney. I don't need to feel "special" and "exclusive". I can watch a parade from the curb. I'm old school like that.
Unless...the next step is charging a premium for curb space. They could tier it. Tier One ($67.00 adults, $57 children 3-9) would be with your keister on the curb, feet on actual street. Tier Two, ($63.00 adults, $53.00 children 3-9) knees in the back of head of person on the curb, dropping pop corn on them. Tier Three ($57.00 adults, $47.00 children 3-9) behind Tier Two, but with the option of shoving children between Tier One and Tier Two guests (fastpass+ required in addition to Tier Three ticket). Bookings may be obtained 180 days in advance, and good luck with that, because oddly, it is never available (but the same people will have them that go to Be Our Guest every year).
Disney, mark my words: you are taking things too far, and some day you may need all that goodwill you are busy burning up. Just sayin'.
that is great haha I could totally see that in the futurePremium viewing areas don't really keep others from ever seeing the parade though so I don't find this slippery slope argumenet to be valid. You can still see it with great view in the Hub, all down main street, and in frontierland. It isn't like they are making the entire curb line premium.
