Hi everyone

I am new to the Wish boards, I haven't been on DIS that long either. My DD started 1st grade today and my DS will be starting Mother's Day Out at our church next week, so now that we are getting back on schedule, I have decided to finally get serious about getting healthly and losing weight. Also this week we had a slight scare with my DH who has extremely high cholesterol (sp?) and high blood pressure and he is only 35!! I have already been looking at the boards to get some better low fat recipes and I bought a Cooking Light recipe book to help me get some new ideas. I am a SAHM, so cooking for the family is not a problem for me. We are members at our local YMCA, I used to work there 2/3 days a week and both of my children love their play rooms. So I have the time and the ability to exercise and eat well, now I just need to do it!! ;) My plan is starting tomorrow (I had to let myself have one day of being sad about DD going back to school) I will go to the YMCA directly after dropping DD off at school. I know that if I come home I will never go, I will get too caught up in chores, etc. I am considering joining WW, it seems like they have a good support group online and at their meetings, I also like the point system and eating real food. I think it would be too hard trying to do different meals for myself and my family.

I look forward to joining some of the exercise challenges in September. And I am sure I will have a lot of questions when I join WW. From reading this boards for a while, it seems like everyone here is very nice and helpful and I look forward to getting to know everyone! :)

Hi! I'm new to the WISH boards too. I just sent DS off to Kindergarten on MOnday! I think that going to the Y right after dropping DD of is a GREAT idea. Just make it part of your normal schedule and it won't be hard.

Weight watchers is great. I love the flexibility of it. I have been thinking about rejoining, but it's just he expense nad time for me. I am joining curves tonight and it's already going to be hard to get there 3x a week plus it's $30 a month and weight watchers is about $40. If I had the materials, I'd just do it at home. hey, that's an idea. I may just order the at home kit. OR look online. Anyway, I know it works and it's a great, healthy program. Highly reccommended by my doctor.

Ditto Sunny! :sunny:

To Christina: have you looked into WW online? I know for me, back in Jan '04, it worked out much cheaper than weekly meetings, over a period of time of course. I currently pay $14.95 month just to log my eating really, but to me it's money well spent!

Onward and Downward for both of you!!! :sunny:

:wave:Welcome Jenna and Christina to Wish.

You will gets lots of help and encouragement :flower:

Thanks for all of the welcomes! Christina, glad there is another newbie with me!! Today was going to be my first day of exercise, I set everyone's clothes out last night, for us to be able to get out of the house by 8:00 am. Everything went fine, drop DD off at school, me and DS go to the Y, he pitched an absolute fit!! Would not go in the room, I tried to convince him for about 10 minutes, but he was having none of it, so we just came home. I think he is just tired and grumpy, still not used to waking up at 7:00. So we are going to walk to pick up DD from school this afternoon, not as great as getting an hour workout but at least something. I will try the Y again tomorrow!

HI ...

I am going to join the WISH, If that's okay, but wanted to let you gals in on a little secret ..

according to rumors over at weightwatchers.com, they will be running a "Free Registration" promotion starting August 21, so for those of you who cringe at paying that $40 up front fee, it will be considerably less come that time!!!!

Oh -- and online is awesome!! I do the WW online and I love it!! I am up again on my weight now, but know that i'll be back where i belong in no time!!

Jay

Jay,
