New to VMK

Hi all! I'm new to VMK, I set myself up yesterday. So far I've started my Hidden Mickey search, played the Pirates and Fireworks game, and made my first Music Mix, and all in all, despite the awful "accepatable words list" (I couldn't make my SN Curiouser and I couldnt use the word "fabulous" in my Mix name) and the overall age of seeming to be 12, its a fun game.

My real question is: what is the POINT of this game? I was often wondering what goal I was supposed to be working towards yesterday. I was a bit confused! It's fun and all, but I'm not a "chatter" and I like to think I'm working towards something.

Also: the disconnect thing.. I disconnected fairly frequently yesterday and then would have a hard time logging back in (the black popup screen would never load). Is this a problem on my end or on the VMK end?

As for the disconnects, I think it's on VMK's end. It was happening to me a lot yesterday, as well.

As for the point of the game, I think it's really a matter of opinion.

I, like you, am not much into chatting. However, I do like trying to collect things that are rare, so I spend most of my time trying to build up credits and buy the "big ticket" items that are available for a short time only, like the Zebra pin this past weekend (I bought too. I mean two. Thought I was in VMK. )

I also have two kids that play, so I spend a lot of my time helping them win the Pirates game and creating fun and unique rooms with them. (We're still trying to come up with a game idea.)

But more than that I think it's a good learning tool for the kids. They make friends, they get to create, and they learn a little about economics (and realize that you have to work hard to get some things), while developing their computer skills at the same time. With all the monitoring and word editing going on, I feel that it's also a very safe environment for them. (Though I still don't know why it wouldn't let me use the word "snowboard".)

Like anything, it is what you make of it, and that's what it is.

Anyway, just my two cents.
