Can someone please explain the dining plans to me and refill cups?

If we have 9 nights at Cabana Vay, but 4 days of park tickets what should we do about food and dining plans?

Thanks,
Chrissy

The Universal QS dining plan can be purchased ad-hoc as needed, without being locked into it for each day of your trip like it is at WDW. So, you could opt to purchase the dining plan only on your 4 park days (or whenever you want) and then have no plan on your other days so you can do what you want. In the past, DH and I have opted to purchase the dining plan at point of sale only when it makes sense - for example, we did an early lunch at Three Broomsticks one day. We each got an entree, drink, and butterbeer. It was cheaper for us each to buy dining plan entitlements at the register, and use the entrée/drink credit and snack credit for the butterbeer, which left us each with one additional drink credit to use later in the day. Other than instances like this, we don't buy the dining plan.

There's also the QS plan with the inclusion of the Coke freestyle refill cups. I'm not sure what changes, if any, are currently in place with this. Its my understanding the refills were available at self-serve Coke freestyle machines, and I have to imagine they are limiting those now in light of social distancing and sanitization. I can't confirm this though. But, if they are still in use, I will mention that you'd have to carry these around all day and there are some lockers where the cup will only fit inside if its empty and you slide it in sideways.

I have been looking at the dining plan and I just can’t get anyplace to equal 25.00 pp

Some Of the meals have combos which come with a drink. I got two Qs meals for my party. One at thunder falls. And another at whackawaiwai in volcano bay. If another place is worth it I’d appreciate the point in the direction
