New to Universal...question about rides

We'll be spending one day Universal (both parks) the first week in October. We primarily want to go because of Harry Potter, but would like to experience as much of both parks as possible.

I have a 17 year old and a 7 year old. It sounds like neither my husband nor I will be able to fit on FJ. Is it very scary? Do you think my 7 year old would be ok with his brother?

Also, what about other rides in the parks. Are there many that aren't too much for a 7 year old? I'd say he's your typical child that age as far as rides go. He enjoys Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Big Thunder, etc.

DD who is 7 loved pretty much everything, but was scared a little on FJ and Mummy. That did not stop her from going back on it again and again She just hit 48inches when we went so she could do everything but the big coasters and US/IOA to her right now is much better than Disney.

If he enjoys the rides at Disney then he will get a kick out of the ones at IOA. US has more similators and DD loved Simpsons and the mummy, she was so proud of herself after the 3rd time riding that she kept her eyes open

Thank you. That helped a lot! DS is right at 49 inches, so he should be pretty good to go. I don't want him doing the huge coasters, anyway!
