Hello fellow Disers :)

I'm new to the wedding/honeymoon section although I have been lurking around for about a week. I figured I'd come out and introduce myself! I'm Maryann and I got engaged at Disney 11/30/07. My fiance Kevin proposed to me on our 1st day of vacation! I was so surprised! He had originally planned on proposing to me during Wishes on our 3rd night there but when we go to Pop to check in, our room wasn't ready and he ended up carring the ring around (unbeknown to me, of course!) all over DTD! I kind of thought he was acting a little weird but didn't think too much about it. We were strolling around, over near Portofino's when we decided to sit and relax for a bit. We were just sitting, chatting and all of a sudden he says to me "Babe, I want to start this vacation off right." Well, me being the silly person I am said "Well, it's kind of early but if you want to, we can go have a drink somewhere!" :rotfl2: He looked at me like I had 2 heads and said "Uh, no" then got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! Of course I said yes!!

So...now you know how our fairytale began.....

We plan on getting married here in little RI (I'd love to get married in Disney but we're paying for everything ourselves) but, of course, there will be a sprinkling of Disney magie and pixie dust at the reception then we will be honeymooning in Disney for 9 wonderful days!

I'm so excited!

Congrats....and we are from RI too. My sister did the Disney reception thing here in RI, and it was beautiful. We Honeymooned (a long time ago) in Disney and it is a wonderful place.

Well hello fellow Rhode Islander! Nice to see another "neighbor" here on the Disboards!

Where did your sister have her reception? We're having ours at Darlings in Seekonk MA

She had hers at the Rocky Point Paladium....the last one they had....and it looked fabulous: her cake was a white Cinderella Castle, she had glitter on all the tables, all music while we ate was Disney, her gown was very Cinderellaish (they hadn't started making them yet), her thank you's had something to do with Mickey and Minni (I can't remember now what they were), the room was filled with flowers and silver balloons with long ribbons (some were tied up around at the tables and some were floating above the dance floor), it was just sooooo nice.

Oh, and she had some of her pictures taken on the horse carasel (?sp)

Awwww....I remember Rocky Point and the Paladium! Such a shame it's gone now :sad2:

Your sister's reception sounds like it was absolutely wonderful! I had also thought about the Disney music during dinner. My gown is quite "Cinderellaish" as well....at least I think so! ;) .....Although I don't want to go into too much detail about the dress because DF is also a member of the Disboards and I don't want him reading any of the details! ;)
We are going to get a Minnie and Mickey topper for the cake and instead of table numbers, we're "naming" the tables after Disney couples. Our favors are little "glass" slippers and we're going to put personalized M&M's inside the shoes.

What a wonderful story!

Thank you....I think it's pretty wonderful :lovestruc

It's funny because he and I have known each other for years....since high school but we never really got along! :lmao: I was (still am) friends with his younger brother.....then years later, look what happens! :bride:

I forgot, my sister did that too!!!! I was at the head table with Cinderella and Prince Charming that I had forgotten.

We have a Mickey and Minnie topper from our VR and they are just so cute!!!

love the slipper idea

Congratulations and welcome! :welcome: What a sweet proposal story! Looking forward to sharing all of your planning! :bride:

Rocky Point was awesome! I'm not an RI person, but originally from Worcester "The Big WOO" Massachusetts. :)

Congrats on your engagement! :cheer2:
