This is my 1st time using this board, I've been on the Disney Cruise Board for months. My dh & I just got back from our 7 day Disney Magic Cruise. Unfortunately we didn't have a great time. There were gale force winds the entire time, with 8-13 foot waves, the ship was rocking sooooooo much. According to the crew, since DCL started it had only been this bad once before. Many people got sick, including us. So to make up for that trip, we're thinking of going to WDW since neither of us have ever been.

Where do you think is the best place to stay? There would be the 2 of us travelling alone. We're in our early 30's with no children yet (hopefully I'll be pregnant by the time we go :)). The Grand Floridian seems a little too expensive. What about the Port Orleans Riverside or Boardwalk. Any suggestions? Also, will we need a rental car or can we get by with Disney transportation? Would 4 days be enough if we only go to WDW, Epcot & maybe MGM?

Thanks for the help!!!

My wife and I are now in our later 30's.. But we enjoy the BW area resorts for the amount of night life in walking distance...

My husband and I love the Dolphin! It's so close to everything (Epcot, MGM and Boardwalk)!

We are in our early 30's but we do have young children and we love the Epcot resorts. There is so much to do and the resorts are very nice!

Sorry to hear about the cruise problems. I took a cruise once in March and said I would never do it again because the water was so rough and the air was quite cool. We now cruise in early summer which is delightful - not too hot and much calmer waters. I highly recommend late May/early June for future Caribbean cruises. :)

Riverside is a wonderful resort with lots to do. While it is a family resort, it is also popular with couples. I would definitely stay on Mansion side which is much more romantic. Riverside is definitely cheaper than the Boardwalk so if you are looking for a beautiful resort that has plenty to do (swimming, boating, fishing, boat to Downtown Disney), but is nice and quiet and reasonably priced, Riverside is a great choice!

I have never stayed at the Boardwalk, but have visited the Boardwalk many times. This is a great place for nightlife because of the many restaurants/clubs on the Boardwalk. There are great restaurants across the lagoon at the Yacht Club and Dolphin too. And, of course, Epcot is just a little bit away with plenty of great restaurants. If you enjoy being on the go with lots of choices, then pick the Boardwalk.

Most people need 2 days for Epcot since there is so much to see, 1 day for MGM, 1 day for Animal Kingdom and 1-2 days for Magic Kingdom (depends on the crowds). I would probably go for 5-7 days since you will have that jet lag thing to deal with. ;)

Good luck with the baby-making.

I've stayed at Port Orleans (French Quarter and Riverside) and would highly recommend them both! I've never stayed at BW but have heard great things about it. As far as how long to stay, I've done 4 day trips before and allowed 1 park per day and had a good time. Its hard to see EVERYTHING in that short of a time so if I had my choice, I'd probably go with a less expensive resort and add additional nights if $ is a factor at all in your decision on trip length. Have fun planning but we warned - 1 trip there will just have you ready to plan your next one the minute you get back!

The 1st time we stayed on property, we were in our early 30's and stayed at Port Orleans Riverside. We LOVED it!!! The grounds are very beautiful and romantic. We rented padal boats and went up the Sassagoula. We used the main pool, which was really relaxing. Although we didn't take advantage of it, the riverboat to Downtown Disney is a great added advantage of staying there. We had no problems with the bus transportation at all.

We stayed in Magnolia Terrace the 1st time, which was done in a French Provential Style. The lawns are gardens are well manicured. The second time we stayed in Alligator Bayou... and honestly enjoyed it better. We were in Building 14, which was secluded, yet extremely convenient to the food court, bus stop, pools and the Riverboat.

I highly recommend it!

I would recommend the Boardwalk for couples. There is lots of stuff to do and it's a short walk to Epcot. Riverside is more of a family resort but they do have the best foodcourt on property!!! IMHO :D
