I bought a set of pins from Beauty and the beast (features Mrs. Potts and Chipm Cogsworth and Lumiere), in a case (feels like velvet..burgundy) which says classics Walt Disney Collection. I bought 'em from eBay because they were cheap (all three for $12 includes shipping), and I thought it would be good for the grands to use to trade when on our next trip. The question is, should I trade these as a set with the case, and if so, so I ask for more than three pins back, or still just three? All seems to be in wonderful condition. I hate to take them out of the case and put on our lanyards, if I should really keep them together and in the case.
Thanks for any info!

PS Is it better to buy a pin trading set from Cheappins.com or the Disney Store?

Ok Luv, I meant it when I said I was new at this LOL. I'm not sure what that site was that you showed me. It's my set, so do I assume that someone has it up on this page, and is making trades for other pins with people?
Would I bring this set ot DW on my next trip to trade in DD, and whould I dare to ask for more than 3 pins, since I have a set? Or doesn't it work that way? Or is this worth pretty much the same as 3 regular pins, or just worth trading for one at a time?

Hi, Rick

Welcome to the DIS Collectors Board. :) Luv linked you to pinpics.com, a collector-run web site cataloging Disney (and now Olympic) pins.

Personally, I wouldn't break the set up to trade either to CMs or to other guests. I would think it would be more valuable as a trader if complete in the box. I'm not sure what a comparable trade would be, though. Maybe a low edition size LE (2500 and under) Any opinions, everyone?

The set was given as a gift with the purchase when WDCC Belle & fountain figurines came out. It is popular with Beauty & the Beast pin collectors and with WDCC pin collectors. However, there are quite a few of these sets around.

I vaguely remember at one of our Disney Club meetings (which are held at a WDCC dealer store), it was said that Disney was lowering the number of dealers to 750. So if the 750 only got 15 pin sets each that is still 11,250 sets of the pins. I think 15 is a very conservative number too.

Since it sounds like you really like this set, I would keep it together. Buy some DS pins for your kids to trade with the CM's. When you become more comfortable with pin trading, venture over to one of the many pin meets held around WDW.
