Hi all,
I found this site by accident, and it is really interesting, but truthfully I am lost. I understand the points and cost, but I don't understand the "codes" used (I am guessing they are the abbrievations used for the places to stay), and I am also wondering if you get the same benefits as when you stay at a Disney resort. And do you still have to purchase tickets to the parks? I am really sorry if these are silly questions, but any help would really be appreciated.

Thanks so much!

Welcome to the Dis-Boards.

Here is a (Link) to a list of the abbreviations.

You get all of the same "benefits" as you do when you stay at any Disney resort. The big difference is that when you stay on points, you don't get daily maid service. You can pay extra for it, if you want it. You still have to buy park tickets like everyone else.

Feel free to ask anything.

Dear Happy Birthday Cat,

Thank you very much for your help. I really appreciate it. I live in Upstate NY too and my 3 1/2 year old little girl is "princess" crazy. She recently has been begging me to take her to Disney, so I am in the planning and saving process. Again I am really grateful for all your help.

Have a great day!

Regarding disney guest benefits, by renting points from a DVC owner, am I correct in assuming that the renter would be able to use extra magic hour at the parks?

Thanks,
Suzy V.

Yes :flower: You would get all the benefits you would if staying at any WDW resort...difference when renting points would be as HBC said, you'd be subject to DVC members maid service schedules. Members who stay on points only get Trash-n-towel service on day 4 of a 7 day stay (they come change out the towels and empty trash cans). If staying longer than 7 nights, we get a full cleaning on day 4 (change of bed linens, towels, beds made and floors vacumed and the like) and then T-n-T on day 8 and the cycle repeats every 4 days. Unlike if you pay cash directly through Disney where you'd get daily maid service where they come in and do a full cleaning and bed making and the works everyday. It's actually nicer to alot of us to not have the maids banging on the door every morning to get in to clean and making the bed is really no big deal. As mentioned though, if you really want it you can pay extra for it.

You do get all the other things the regular WDW resorts get though like EMH and Disney transportation and all. :teeth:

Thanks so much for the info.
I read on a post that DVC point renters can also use Magical Express. Do you think it would be too much to ask the owner to make arangements for this also (for the point renter). Or once the initial reservation has been make, can the point renter call MS direct and arrange Magical Express?

We are so interested in renting points we are hoping to be able to rent points for a split stay. We are hoping to spend some nights at OKW (my choice) and then move over to BCV (my kids choice due to the pool). I have read that BCV is sometimes difficult to get into, so my next choice for the kids would be BWV.
Can't wait. Just wish we were going 12/2005 instead of 12/2006.

Thanks,
Suzy V.

Only the point owner can call MS so make sure that whoever you are renting from knows upfron that you want him/her to arrange for the Magical Express. It isn't too much to ask if you say it right away. That way if the point owner doesn't want to be bothered, they don't have to rent to you. No surprises makes for a good rental experience.
