new to the DVC game!

Hi all - we are new to the idea of timeshares, DVC in particular. We have been giving serious thought to the purchase of a DVC for our family, and have been scouring the internet for info, as well as DVC itself. I'm thinking that we might go thru a resale company (I've got to give Timeshare Store a call, they seem to have a wonderful rep. on these boards ) as we really would like to buy into Wilderness Lodge.

Anyway - can points be used for other non-DVC resorts at WDW, such as the Poly or Pop Century and POR?

Yes, points can be used at other Deluxe and Moderate Disney resorts at WDW (but not at the values). But it's not always the most effective way to use points. A night at OKW that may cost 10 points may cost 30 points at the Grand Floridian.

I looked into a bunch of timeshares and for some reason I did not consider DVC a timeshare...I don't know why.

Even when I tell people about it they say OH, it's a timeshare? I always reply "not really, it's a piece of Disney with the ability to take all sorts of Vacations".

There are no Gimmicks, Tricks or hidden fees.....Its a Vacation Club!

Compared to what you get for your dollar....I find it more worth your buck than any other thing out there.

Another downside of using points for non-DVC resorts is that you can not get the Disney Dining Plan while at the Poly, AKL, etc....

You can still get it while at a DVC tho

I agree, what time share can you get 19 nights in a studio with points left over in a year. (200 BWV points)
