New to the Boards - January or October

Hello! I am new to the message boards and am very excited by all the great posts! I am currently planning a trip to WDW with my parents, my husband and our two sons. We are trying to decide whether to go the first week of October 2006 or the MLK, Jr. week in January 2007. Any advice from those who have gone at those times? Weather? Crowds? Closures for refurbishment? Hours of operation? We are either going to stay at the All Star Sports, or if money allows, the Caribbean Beach Resort. Thanks for any help!!!!

P.S. If we go in 10/06, my sons will be 3.5 years and 21 months. In January, the younger one will have just turned 2. I think at either age, they will both have a blast. It will be their first trip, and I am beside myself with excitement!!!

Welcome! Hope you enjoy it here and get lots of great tips. I've never been to WDW myself (learning for the future though!) so I can't answer your questions, but I wanted to say Welcome!

we have gone to DW several times around that MLK time. The weather is iffy--we have been lucky and had days in the 80s--we have also had icy cold weather in the upper 40s running around animal kingdom looking for hot chocolate. The Khali River raft ride is always closed! But on the other hand, while the actual weekend and Monday is much more crowded, the few days leading up to the weekend--the park was practically empty and we ran on ride after ride with no lines whatsoever, so that was alot of fun. I refuse to go to DW paying that kind of money for a family trip and then have to sit on long lines. I think October might be better for your age kids. the weather is much nicer and you still don't have the crowds.

Oct- food andwine events are wonderful-warmer weather oon the whole.

Jan-you can get warm weather must less people-limited lines
