Just reading some of these threads and wondering.....we have stayed in the park a couple times and have never received a "pin" code?? How do you get them? Also tried to make a reservation today but was advised to wait until Oct. for the 2013 specials to come out. For any one who has made a reservation and the rates go down will they adjust the price? Or do you cancel and rebook or just lose out on the better rate. I really want to book because I found some good air rates. Thanks!!

Firstly, pin codes are elusive to me. I have never received one. I do know that many recommend ordering the DVD from Disney and going on the website and saving several vacations.

If any deals come out in October, you can certainly apply those rates to your package if they are available. however, be aware that sometimes the dates may not coincide with your trip. Also, there are usually only so many rooms in each resort/view that are available for a discount. Many go ahead and book their dates and hope that a discount comes out that will work, but sometimes that meas switching resorts. We have our vacation booked for January and are anxiously waiting for a discount.

Second, I find this surprising that they would tell you to wait to book your trip for discounts. Was this the WDW reservation center that you called? I've often been encouraged to make a reservation and then if an offer comes out that I can apply to my reservation to call back and they'd add it to my trip. Not that they've ever been rude-pushy but I have had several times that they've "strongly encouraged" that I do that. I always think their goal is to get me to book something but are never rude when I don't.

If you know you want to go to WDW regardless of the discounts offered I'd book my reservation and get my airline tickets. Then when discounts are out you can take advantage of them, if the dates/resorts match up with your trip. And you can always adjust your trip if your resort isn't in the offer so you can take advantage of an offer. The only thing that might mess you up is if you book for a week when the discount isn't offered. If you'd rather wait to see the discounts to decide your dates of travel to make sure 100% that you'll be able to take advantage of the discounts then you might want to wait on airfare. I guess that's a long way of saying that if you aren't going to take the trip without a discount then wait to make sure you book when the discount is available. If you are going to travel regardless of the discount then book and if a discount does come out that you can apply to your trip then that's an added bonus

As far as PINs I don't think anyone knows how they get distributed. I've gotten a few over the years. I hadn't gotten one for a while but then recently I was looking around the website a lot and had booked some ADRs and then all of a sudden I got an email with a PIN code. I was so excited but in the end it didn't really help me any though because it was for late this year and I need one for the end of January.

The other weird thing with the PIN codes we get is that they are in my husband's name...which is weird because I am always the one to book everything. I have no idea how his name got on the mailing list. It doesn't matter because it applies to the household but just an interesting observation.
