My DD 10 has got into the pin trading since we went to WDW last year. I'm clueless when it comes to buying her pins. I know I can get them in the parks, disney store.com, ebay, etc... However if I buy them on ebay how do I know if they are good pins? I know they state they are tradable, etc. I have read some posts about scrapper pins. What are these and how do I stay away from buying these for her? Also I need to buy her a book. I see I can buy one at disneystore.com but is there anywhere else I can buy one and not spend $50+ after shipping? I hate to spend tons a money on this if it's going to be a short lived hobby. She's collecting them to collect we got to WDW once every 2 yrs or so. She's get to trade on vacation but that's about it.

Another idea would be to buy her a cork board and decorate it. She can hang it on her wall and put the pins in it that she really wants to keep instead of using a book. That way she can see them anytime she wants!

That's precisely what we did. We have a cork board where we keep all of our pins both bought and traded for.

Probably for our daughter is that we don't have any more duplicates for her to trade and all of the pins we have, have some sort of meaning, so they aren't meant to be traded away.

Guess we need to start looking for some cheap"per" pins for trading with Cast members so she can keep doing it next vacation.

May I recommend that you view this prior to buying if not already?
in collectors board there is a good/bad ebay sellers list.

feel free to email me if you want to discuss options - I have been collecting with my kids for over a year now and we have had a blast (Boy/Girl 6 YO's)

Does this mean that you are a parent on b/g twins? ME TOO! Mine are 9 and we all started collecting and trading in March of 2009. We have been 3 times and one cruise since then. My husband and I are attending the Pin Trading Celebration in August!

BTW, I emailed you a request for the article you mentioned in another post!
