Hi there,

I am new to pin trading and have been reading a lot on this forum. It has given me a lot of information, but I am wondering about one pin in particular at this moment. I am looking to buy it on eBay for my DD. The seller is listed somewhere on this site as a trusted one, but the listing is throwing up some red flags from what I have read here :confused3 .

It is a trusted seller, however, she is selling multiple items at a buy-it-now price with free shipping. The price she has listed is less than it was sold in the park .

Thanks.

Can you give us a little more information? What pin is it? If one of us could check out the auction we could probably tell you a little more. Can you list the item number here?

Certainly,

Here is the item number on eBay: 250304733857

As far as I can tell from Pin Pics it is Pin 67298: Princess Crown - Pink with Jewels (Variation). It might be the 2007 version.

My DD is also interested in item number 260293479170. She has the hat from our last visit (2006) and would LOVE :lovestruc the matching pin.

Thanks for the help. I understand that we will probably receive some scrappers while trading within the park (we're going back next May), but I definitely do not want to take any in. We'll just "retire" the ones we get.

I think I had read on this site that buying from the Disney Store will guarantee genuine pins, but I had also read elsewhere that the quality is not as good as those purchased in the park. Is this really the case?

We've been saving up for quite a while, and we thought that pins would make great Birthday/Christmas/Just-Because gifts. We were all excited about them, and thought that they would make fun, and lasting, souvenirs without taking a lot of space. Now that we have been researching them, they are a little overwhelming.

Thanks again.

8ears that seller really looks okay to me. The only thing that does worry me is that they have multiples of the same pin. I am going to see if I can draw attention to this thread and get some more to look at the pins and the seller so they can offer their expert advice. I am fairly new to buying and trading but trying to learn as much as I can.

I've never purchased from that seller so I don't know. But it is a red flag for me that they have so many of the same pin. That's always a red flag for me. BUT I ran into a trader at DL who had loads of the free gift with purchase Donald pin, he probably had 100 of that pin alone and he had them from trading, so it is possible that for some reason that person has more than 10 of the same pin. LOL

OK, thanks. That was what we had figured, but since we are so new to pin trading, we thought we should get some advice. We'll have to do some thinking on this one.
On a side note; if I have future questions, I'll post them on the other thread "Good/Bad Internet..." That way no one will have to search around for us. ;)
Thanks again.

Just my 2 cents -- the red flag for me is that the seller is not posting a picture of the pin he/she is selling -- the seller is using a pin from disneypins.com (see the url atthe bottom of the posted picture). That doesn't mean the pin is fake, but I would want to see the picture of the actual pin I am buying, not the stock picture form the official Disney site.

Many people selling pins on ebay are cast members who can purchase overstock at discounted prices, at a kind of like Odd Lots store. I would not worry about the multiple pin aspect too much. When our DD was a CM she would go to the Company D Store and get pins for us at 30% off

Thanks again for all of the help. If we decide to buy the pin/s, we'll let you know how they turn out.
I hadn't thought of CM with multiples.

Almost all of the sellers do that. I would buy from the bizzy bee seller, but I would make sure that it isn't a scrapper after I got it.

Thanks again for all of the helpful advice. IF we do get these pins, we'll definitely verify authenticity. However, even if they are genuine, we probably will not be trading them in the park. DD will like them too much to part with them.
