New to Magic Bands...please help!

I have not been to WDW in quite a few years. Will my family receive our Magic Bands automatically before our trip? We are staying onsite, we are DVC members, and have AP's (just a confirmation #, not activated yet). Will they send different colors or all grey? How far in advance will we get them? Thank you!

You can personalize them including names on the back and colors on My Disney Experience. You can personalize them up until they Ship out roughly a month in advance of the trip and get to you with plenty of time for the trip.

You will get a separate one for you AP if you want it.

You can also decline your magic bands for subsequent trips (or even this trip if you just want to do the one for you AP) if you are satisfied with the ones you have. As long as they are in an active (the default) state in My Disney Experience they will work for all thing you have linked to your My Disney Experience account.

Just an FYI, you won't receive your bands for your AP until after you activated them. So they won't be good for this trip.

There have been rumors of people picking them up at Guest Services, but I haven't confirmed it.

Also, on the My Disney Experience App, I have all my family listed. We are all adults and one infant. The infant's name came up being "managed" by my husband. Will my husband be able to make fast passes and dinner reservations for all of us OR do the adults have to be "managed" by him. I hope I'm making sense. This is all new to us since we haven't. been there in six years!

Because AP holders don't always stay on site. Some live close enough to go home for the night.

You magic bands link to your account on MDE. So as long as the AP's are linked to your account, your magic band will work.

All of your info (room reservations, tickets, passes, dining plans, ect) are linked to your account on My Disney Experience. Your Magic Band(s) are just the way that you access your account in the parks. Nothing is actually stored on the Magic Band except how to identify itself to My Disney Experience so the system can pull the info from your specific account. So don't worry too much about different Magic Bands. Each Magic Band has an ID code on the back. As long as that code is linked to your account, you're good to go.

No. It doesn't matter. You could decide 8 months before your trip that you wanted a purple band, but change your mind at 5 months that you wanted a red one. You can change the customization as much as you want until 30 days before your trip. At that point the customization window will close and your bands will be produced based on whatever the last change was you made. A couple of days later they will be shipped to you. You should receive them about 2-3 weeks before your trip.

Once you put your Magic Band on.....leave it on. You can swim, shower and do everything with it on. Have Fun!

My trip as you see below is 3 weeks and 4 days away....I got my bands Thursday (2 days ago).

And yes when you do check in if you didn't receive yours or there is a problem they will give you activated bands but they have always been the sad gray color. (lol). My daughter last trip brought a different person than we had booked to go with us, so they handed him a gray Magic Band upon check in.
