I was thinking about driving to Hartford next year (instead of flying out of Albany) to fly Jet Blue if the rates were cheaper. How far ahead do they open their schedule? And are the rates typically cheaper when they open up or should I wait? This is for August/Sept.-I usually fly SW and the rates seem to be cheapest the first day because we return Labor Day weekend.

I can tell you my experiences (I fly them 3-4 times a year)with Jetblue though others on this board have told me I'm wrong. Fights usually open up 6-8 months out. The prices on first day may or may not be the best. For my November trip flights opened at 79 one way I booked them since then they have gone up and back down to 79. I'm planning a trip in
April the flight I want opened at 344 one way I'm waiting on that I don't think people are going to pay that and the fare will go down. If I feel they are too high I wait until 2-3 months out start checking usually they come down 6-8 weeks out. Now I'm not one that thinks I should get 59 one way or it's too high anything under 200 round trip I'm happy with. I fly out of Newark experiences with other airports may be different.

I just started keeping track.

On Sunday 07/18/2010 they released through 02/28/2011.

On Sunday 08/15/2010 they released through 05/02/2011.

Both times they were supposed to start booking on Monday but you could book online on Sunday.

Also if you join the True Blue loyalty program they send you an email as a heads up to let you know when they're about to be released

That doesn't work for me. I seem to only get some of the e-mails from JetBlue, even though my settings are correct and I check the "junk mail" folder of my e-mail. So I would suggest that people not assume that they will get the e-mail, and keep checking here if they are waiting for a new block of dates to be released.
