keep in mind that you are renting a timeshare stay and not a hotel stay. daily housekeeping is not included (full cleaning would only be once a week if you are staying longer than a week). you generally cannot get a refund if you need to cancel. most studios only have 1 queen bed plus 1 fullsize pullout sofabed (OKW studios have 2 queen beds.)
remember that disney is not involved. you are renting from a private, individual owner and they own the reservation until you check in. risks are involved on both sides. you can find an individual owner on the DVC rent/trade forum or you can use a broker like david:
I'm not affiliated with his service, but after seeing some other people have bad experiences elsewhere, I'm not going to be shy about directing people to David's site. All the information you are looking for is there, and I have and would again work with him for rentals.
There is a lot of great information out there. I think the biggest piece is to make sure you understand that you are renting the reservation from an owner and not Disney and therefore, it is a private transaction.
In addition, there are differences when staying on a DVC reservation vs. a cash reservation made through Disney. Make sure you understand all of that. Owners who rent reservations are very good at helping those new to the process so be sure to ask all the questions you have as it will be something between the two of you and may be a little different than other owners.
If you are not a DVC member, points are worthless to you. You actually just purchase a reservation from a member that they made with their DVC points. DVC is Disney's version of a timeshare. Instead of reserved weeks, members purchase points (a fixed number that they get each year).
So basically, you find a DVC member who has points they don't need to use. They make a reservation for you, you pay them, you go on a vacation.
