Greeting from VA. I'm about to take my 10th (I think, I've sort of lost count) trip to Disney World with my DH, DD (11 mo old), mom, dad, brother an SIL. It's my DD and SILs first trip to any Disney park. My husband and I took our first trip together for our honeymoon Oct 2010 then I surprised him with a Star Wars weekend trip the next spring. We are sooo excited for this frst trip with our baby girl. We're staying at POR, first time ever staying at this resort though I have stayed at PONO (my fave moderate resort) twice before.
I have never read or posted on forums before, for Disney or anything else, but this new MagicBands, fast pass plus thing has me all in a tizzy. We tend to wing it more or less when we're in Disney. The difference on this trip is the number of people going and the new bands and FP system. We're not foodies so ADR haven't exactly been an issue except the two places we do want to eat at are already booked up for the times we need, again not a planner, had no idea how early in advance rainforest cafe and bongos had to be booked. So now I'm on MDE all the time trying to catch a time slot. I'm also constantly second guessing my FP selections. So far I have booked everyone for the same passes but in reality my dad won't ride anything that isn't super tame (POTC, Pooh, those are up his alley) and my husband is about the same. I'm thinking of canceling all of the FP for my Dad that I know he won't ride. For DH I was thinking of replacing the ones I know he won't ride with ones he will and adjust the times later?? I have never been stressed about a disney trip but I'm a little on edge. How easy is it to change FP times while in the park? Are time slots often available or if you don't pick them in advance are you sort of out of luck? How long are people waiting for a lunch table at Rainforest and Bongos? is it worth getting a fast pass for things like lights motor action, parades, etc. Also options randomly pop up for FP like parades and then disappear again, and some dining places have a FP option on the dining page but when you click it to make a FP reservation it's not there (for instance be our guest counter service line).
I've already learned so much and I'm excited to participate. Any suggestions would be great.
