I was looking into a Disney trip using benefits from my *hopeful* fall advantage 2017 dcp, calculating how much it would cost to do the nicer hotels for 6 people before I realized that my grandparents own a camper and the campgrounds go for $83 a night before discounts.

All I had to do was mention it once to my grandmother before she asked about it not too long after.

She didn't know measurements of the RV and we agreed that it is fairly small but we were wondering if there were any differences between the "standard" full hookup and the "premium" besides the size of equipment allowed?

I also want to add that my grandfather does have his share of health problems and although they have a golf cart and would probably tow it along, I would assume they would prefer a site closer to bus stops to the parks and other amenities.

Any recommendations for loops or certain sites to request and possibly some low-key activities at the resort would be much appreciated! xx

The difference in sites for FULL, Preferred, and Premium is essentially Location and the size of concrete pad versus the amount of the tent pad (of sand/coquina). The all offer Water, sewer, electric, cable TV and WiFi internet access. The Premiums have no tent pad, where the Full sites have the most for a tent pad (but less of concrete. There are also "Tent" sites (for small basic campers and tents) offer everything but sewer.

A golf cart is great for getting around, but reality is, there is a bus stop pretty much at the entrance/exit area of almost every loop. So the furthest one would have to walk to get on the bus from the loop is from the back of the loop to the front of it. While you will get a plethora of recommendations of sites/loops, but the reality is, they all have their pluses and minuses. I suggest going to the "Fort Wilderness Resort Information (work in progress)" thread and reviewing that. There is also a map to help guide with the decisions of where to stay. (some larger ones can be found on Google as well)

The fort doesn't really take "Site" requests, but they will try and honor "Loop" requests.

I will say for comfort station usage, we did NOT like the 500 loop. When using the comfort station, we ended up crossing over to the 300 loop CS as it was better access.

We stayed in the 1400 loop once and we really liked that one. We were in site 1401. It was a short walk to the CS in that loop. An even SHORTER walk to the Bus. The pool and outdoor movie location are just a bit further than the comfort station for the loop and of course the Meadows Trading post is just across a small bridge from the pool

You don't want to get the size of the camper/rv noted on your reservation. It will help the CM's to get you an appropriate site.

Hope you have an awesome trip.

Thank you for explaining everything! I did see the map and figured about the bus stops but I wasn't totally sure which would've got me a "well you need to make sure" from my mom.

I get the "Well you need to make sure" from my DW. I know the feeling. :)

I would definitely bring your own golf cart since they have it. Carts are great for getting around the fort and there's lots of parking for the carts at the bus stop, the boat dock, the pool, etc.

there's lots of parking for the carts at the bus stop
To be clear, that would be the Bus stop at the FRONT (Outpost) of the Fort. There are internal bus stops through out the fort where there is NOT parking available.

Golf cart parking available at the Meadows, Trails End/Pioneer Hall, the beach, outdoor movie/pool, and the Outpost.

I would also recommend bringing the cart as it greatly helps in getting around. The thread Peg110 referred to above also lists the golf cart rules including required things such as front and rear lights.

Have a blast!

We brought bikes but I wouldn't want to go there without a bike or golf cart personally even with the busses going around. If you have a golf cart, this is the place to use it.
