new to food allergies

Thank you for all the information. I am still digesting all of this. We tried the neocate and he would not drink it. He is stubborn and would not even get it close to his mouth after he tasted it.

Could you slowly transition him, by mixing the formula he is use to with a small amount (1 ounce) of the new formula? Then everyday add another ounce of the new formula. ;)

We had a set back. My son had something this week that he was allergic to and we are not sure what it was. We are now back to carrots, sweet potatos, and peas. He is still drinking rice milk. we are going to be very careful for our trip. I just feel bad that he is so limited.

have you found any local support groups? I'm in cinnaminson and was involved with the FAAN Walk a few weeks ago. I may be able to point you to some helpful people.

Keep this in mind: As long as he is getting adequate nutrition, at this age he doesn't know he is limited. You feel bad but he most likely doesn't. Like others said, stick to natural foods that you know he can eat to supplement what the doctors recommend.

I have not looked into any around here but I would love any help you can offer. I will pm you when I get back from the world.
Thanks in advance

Sorry your little one (and you) are dealing with these allergies.
Others have given lots of great practical advice.

Has your allergist suggested that you see a dietitian? It was one of the best things we did when trying to work out menu plans etc and it ensured that our son was getting required nutrition.

Hope you have a magical trip:hug:

Sorry to hear about your setback. I think you are getting good advice here. This post is not food related, but I thought that since your child has multiple food allergies, including dairy, you should be aware that the soap at your resort may have allergens in it. My daughter's dairy allergy prevent her from being able to use the bath products at some hotels/resorts. At the Disney owned resorts, you can peel back the sticker on the bottom of the soap to reveal the ingredients. It might be best to pack your own bath products for your youngest son. You might already be aware of this, but I thought I would give a heads-up to you and any other guests with allergies.

Thank you for the info. I am bringing little things of baby soap that I use on him here. I was thinking of this as we were packing. Husband is still packing and i have to work tonight 7p to 7a.
