I'm actually outside Toronto, but I hear all the time about people getting great deals by flying out of Buffalo.

Toronto to MCO for my dates (Aug 10-25) is about $500 per person round trip, non-stop. Plus $25 per checked bag, per direction, per person. Yikes!

I have found $334 rt on Southwest from Buffalo, non-stop on the way down and a stopover in Washington on the way back. 2 free checked bags.

Can I do better than that? I know people have talked about fantastic fares out of Buffalo, but I don't know if this would be considered "fantastic". It's still more expensive than driving ourselves.

Thanks!

Hi! I am in Buffalo & fly to Orlando once or twice a year. Airfares have been pretty high this year. Even SW & JetBlue are running $200 or more each way for a nonstop. Look at JetBlue for your return date, I think I saw about $150. Said there's only 4 seats at that price so you might need to book separate reservations.

You might get lower fares than that, might not be direct or times you want to fly tho. This is a new normal for fares, I don't think anyone can predict if you'll get better rates or not.

We just went to DW 2 weeks ago, flew SW there & JB back. Actually got SW for $130 (6 AM flight!) it did drop to $100, but since we were using up credits that will expire in Sept, I didn't bother getting credit. Booked JB at $220, ended up with $55 credits after it dropped. But you are going in the summer, rates might not drop that low then.

I don't know if that helped or not! Good luck!

That price from Buffalo looks about average for this August. You probably won't be able to do any better if you wait.

I fly to DW about twice a year round trip from Buffalo. The best fares are usually Jet Blue or Southwest. I am paying $229 for late July round trip on Jet Blue. The nice thing about both airlines is they have direct flights into MCO, and if the fares go down, they will issue a credit back to your account.
Also, Allegiant Air flies out of Niagara Falls into Sanford on Monday and Friday evenings. The fares can be very low on this airline, but they charge for all the extras. It may be worth checking it out to compare prices.

Thanks everyone! I think we are going to book Southwest today. I know about checking in 24 hrs ahead online, but I am sure I will come back to this board in a few weeks with lots of questions about flying out of Buffalo.

I find it better to book flights out of Buffalo as soon as flights open up. Flight prices rarely drop. We are booked on AT out of Buffalo for this August. We are paying $199 per person round trip, direct flight, with great travel departure times! We booked the day after flights opened.

I also booked our August flights when they opened up in February. I haven't seen them any lower than what I booked them for. They are much higher. I booked my flight down for $99 one way with Airtran and that flight has been sitting over $200 for a few months now. I've received emails advertising sale fares but they were still higher.
Bottom line is I would agree with the others and advise you to book them now.
