New to ECV's - considering one for my mom and have transportation questions

What we did with the elevators is we would try and pull up so it was a direct shot into the elevator. And a hint about the elevator in the Land—use the one around the corner over by Garden Grill. It’s kinda hidden but we’ve never had to wait for scooters/strollers in front of us. It lets you off at the exit for Living With The Land.
Agreed and thanks for the Land tip.
I found there was a fast and simple learning curve for elevators. I suspect that people who already drive cars will not have much of a problem but YMMV.

I also recommend staying either at a boardwalk area resort, or one on the skyliner route. Either would get you off of the bus for 2 parks, boardwalk area resorts can boat or walk to Epcot and DS, skyliner resorts get you to the same resorts without using a bus. The skyliner is super easy with an ECV. Straight on, straight back out.

Definitely agree with this! We stayed at the Swan and I’m sure going when we did (Aug/sep) partially played a part, but there was only one time someone asked to ride the elevator with me when I was in the scooter, otherwise I always had an empty elevator!

I just remembered a problem entering elevators.
First, I tended to get on so that I faced the back of the space, solo. This meant a severe head turn coming out backwards. It also was a tad difficult choosing the floor call button.
My next trip there will be others to press the elevator and help me navigate out.

RE Skyliner - I’m personally NOT a fan…mostly because I’m afraid of heights but also because they only pull off/load ECVs every 4-5 minutes - it’s not continuous loading for ECVs - and if there’s multiple ECV parties ahead of you, the wait to get a lengthy - longer than waiting for a second bus - plus the view is the poles..
I prefer staying at BC or BW (DVC and own at both) and just scooting over to Epcot or HS or a monorail resort to scoot over to MK or monorail to Epcot.

Average wait time for a WAV cabin is eight minutes. Just like any transportation, you show up at park dump at the bus or SL, you’re going to have a longer wait. You show up at 2pm at Hourglass station, Your wait will be less. The SL moves more people per hour than any other form of transportation on property including guest with special assistance needs.
The heights and motion is a factor for some guest. I’m afraid of heights, ten foot strep ladder is my max. I spent over a year at the SL and after I knew what is holding me up there, I realized I’m safer in the air than on the ground.

That’s why I prefer staying on property where I can just scoot over to one of the parks - especially after the 1 time I was 10th in line for a disability cabin - took over an hour…

I had to start using ECV's about 7 years ago after an accident left me with nerve damage. I had all kinds of anxiety about it, but its really not as intimidating or scary as it seems. You can do it! Take it slow, and readjust as many times as you need. Anyone who gets impatient can just get over themselves. Do what you need to make your trip doable!

Sounds about right for a park dump. Every tenth cabin is a WAV cabin. That cabin is in line with all the other cabins, if the line slows or stops, it delays the WAV cabin.
Most stops, which once stopped require a process to start again, are not mechanical. People not getting into an assigned cabin, strollers not being folded till after given a cabin assigned. I don’t have enough fingers to count the amount of times, per night, you ask someone to fold their stroller and the person argues and says, I’ll fold it when we are walking to the cabin. Okay, I like OT. lol. They get assigned a cabin, the family loads in the cabin and the folder who folded the stroller dumped everything in the stroller on the platform.
The unload side is where a lot of the stoppages and slow downs come from.
And yet, still moves more people faster than a boat, bus or monorail.
