My friend sent me the link today to sign up for Ebates. Is there a sticky/post in here somewhere that might describe strategies for using Ebates or ways to get the most bang for your buck? And if there is any connection with Ebates and saving specifically for Disney? Thanks!

I use Ebates to order from stores like Target, Kohls, Macy's, Lowes...and pick it up at their store. The order is usually ready for pick up within an hour or two. Not only do I get the money from Ebates but it saves me money since I don't buy things on impulse while shopping.

I usually shop when it's a double or even triple rebate day. I also try and pair it with a sale that the store is having and use the reward program if a store has one

Today I ordered a cute Coach Disney purse for my daughter from Macy's. The purse is regularly $175. Today there is a 30% off sale and 10% rebate and a free gift with purchase. The order came to $122 with tax and I'll get $12 from Ebates.

If you want to save it for Disney, you could put the money in a separate account

Ebates sends checks out quarterly, so you could put those checks into a savings account that you set aside for Disney trips.

Ok - I'm all set up with an account and just made my first purchase on something that I needed anyway. So the checks come automatically?

I'm a bit overwhelmed by the site, but I'll learn along the way.

If I want to qualify for the cash back opportunities, I first have to link the offer? Is there an app?

Download the add-on, and for most stores the add-on button reminds you to activate the cash back.

And don't forget to check out the In-Store cash back options they have. For those, you do have the Link the offer and use the card you linked, but it's fairly simple. Then you can get cash back for in-store in-person purchases as well. These are more limited than ordering online, but I've gotten money back from these so search for the store before you head out to shop.

You can have the money deposit directly to your paypal account so you don't have to deal with a papercheck. Ebates pays quarterly.

I definitely recommend this but not all stores use the add-on, Zulily for instance does not but they are on the ebates website with 5% cash back. I was so mad when I found that out because I have done alot of shopping there without realizing they participated with ebates because they didn't show up on the add-on. I missed out on a good chunk of change for awhile :sad:

OP If you have a paypal account you can just have your ebates "check" put into that.

Yes, there are a few like that, it makes me crazy!

Thanks for all the info. I am going to try Ebates too. I was a 10 year member of Sunshine Rewards, but their returns have gotten so low, 1% or 2% it takes me forever to earn any money. I used to cash out $500 at least every six months. It has taken me over 2 years to reach $500 and I still haven't yet, actually. Does Ebates do any survey's? I pretty much keep my survey's though to E-Rewards to earn points at Southwest Airlines.

I've used Ebates for a few years - I have the Google Chrome add on installed, and if I go to any shopping website it will light up and let me know that there's an Ebates offer for that site. Takes a lot of the guesswork out of it, at least for the way I shop. If I'm on my phone shopping i'll use the Ebates App before opening a shopping app/website just to make sure I get any rebates. The checks distribute quarterly - there is a minimum amount you need to have before a check will be issued, but I forget what it is as I rarely have less than $20 coming to me every quarter.

Ebates will also connect you with coupon codes to be used when you check out (if you use the Chrome app, they are connected with your shopping session and applied by clicking on the extension icon in your toolbar). I've found that Ebates doesn't always capture all of the available coupon codes, so I'll search up Retail Me Not to see if I can snag better/additional discounts before checking out.

I haven't seen any survey offers via ebates to earn rewards, just rebate % on purchases. I do keep an eye on any increased rewards (double or triple rebates) to maximize what I get back!

I've been using Ebates for several year now and look forward to My Big Fat Check. But, you need to read the "fine print" for each store. Most, if not nearly all, do NOT give rebates for GC. I use my big fat check to purchase the GC straight from the stores (BJ's, Sam's, etc).
