New to DVC

Booyah!!! We made an offer yesterday and the seller accepted the same day!!! This is our first time with DVC and we decided to go resale after reading the threads. We contacted the finance company and we are waiting for the contract to be sent to us. (trying to be patient...patient...patient...patient)

For those of you have have gone resale and completed this process before, from start to finish, how long did it take to complete the process and start booking? What bumps did you have in your road? Our broker gave me the official outline of how it works, but what were your experiences?

It can take up to 90 days so sit back and relax. You need to decide if you are going to get all excited and take a vacation on day 91 at SSR or wait until next year and book at a resort that may interest you more.

We are hoping to book our home resort for June 2016 as our first trip. That's the earliest I can get all my kids together. Hoping I won't have any trouble since we will be under the 11 month mark.

Our timeline has pretty much gone according to what is considered normal these days. The only surprise that happened was when the closing docs arrived at the closing agents office they noticed the contract had the wrong use year on it. Nobody including myself and Disney had caught that. Fortunately it didn't hold things up. Our only delay seems to have been waiting on the seller getting their docs back to the title company. We were supposed to have closed over a week ago. I sent the final payment in almost 3 weeks ago.

Passed ROFR 4/18
Estoppel 5/18
Closed 6/10

We are still waiting for the deed to be recorded expect that to happen by tomorrow and then the two week wait for our member number. We will be very close to 90 days all said and done.

90 days seems to be the norm. Ours was in that time frame too.

As long as you are before the 7 month window for AKL (your home resort), you "should" be good. I think AKL is pretty big with substantial DVC inventory. I just booked mine for Jan 2016 at AKL (7 month) and had no issues. I know that is not an apples to apples comparison, but find it hard to believe that u will have issues for Jun 2016.

We signed our contract and mailed in the deposit last night! Waiting on the seller to return their contract now. Then it goes for ROFR. I'm so excited I can hardly stand it!
