new to DVC

We just purchased a DVC memebership and were given points from a previous trip. I was finally able to log onto the website and it shows that there are 160points with 2012 user year, as well 160 for the 2013 user year. Does this mean that I will have to use the 160 points that they "gave" me this year? Is it too late to bank them? I was under the assumption that the 160 points was going to be added to the 2013 user year, I guess that is what I get for assuming. Any help would be apreciated. Thanks

What UY do you have? If you're not going to use those points, you can bank them. You can do this online or by calling MS. If you're already past your banking deadline, call your guide and he will help you with it.

Based on your UY do you know when your banking deadline is?

You are currently in your December 2012 UY and you can bank them into 2013 until July 31.

I would do it online for the experience.

OP - if you plan on traveling between now and November 30, you will still be in your Dec 2012 use year, so no need to bank anything. Those points are good for stays from Dec 1, 2012 to Nov 30, 2013. I find December use years the hardest to understand because your use year starts near the end of the calendar year.
