New to DVC!

Hello All,

My wife and I just sent in the final paperwork for AKV!!!

My wife and I are going to take my mom and stepfather to AKV next May for our first trip home! The last time my mom was in WDW was when her and my dad took me when I was 11. Now it's time for me to return the favor!

If anyone has any cool vacation tips regarding AKV I would love to hear them...

Welcome Home Neighbor and Congrats

We stayed at AKV in 07. We had a great time and watching the animals wake up was very relaxing.

Best tip I can give you is to take the time to explore both the Jambo house and the village. Check out the notice boards for that days activities.

I am sure you will get plenty of tips just reading the boards. We are going to stay at AKV (Kidani Village) for the first time this coming October! I am psyched! We have visited the Lodge just to walk around and see, but I am really looking forward to getting to stay on property for a week!

Thank you everyone for the tips... I have a question about booking for AKV. When booking, do you have the option to choose Jambo House or Kidani? Or do you make a ressie for the resort and when you show up it's the luck of the draw? Also - other than being a bit more new, is Kidani going to be any different?

When you book your reservation, you will get to pick either Jambo or Kidani.

The units is Kidani are larger than Jambo and the layout is a little different. We've eaten at Boma's and loved it.

What size unit are you going to book? We stayed in a 1BR in Jambo in February and loved it, but I believe the 1BR in Kidani is going to have an extra bathroom. Also, getting in and out of the tub/shower was no picnic, and I am 5'8", so it might be a problem for your parents. I think Kidani has a totally separate tub and shower.

No matter where you stay, I would definitely book a savanna view. That was totally awesome.

We are planning on booking a 2 Bedroom Savanna View for 10 nights. We can't wait - May 2010 can't come fast enough!
