New to DVC with questions about renting

We can't take another trip this year and would lose our DPs if we don't rent them out or give them away.

My question is in talking with my guide yesterday, she mentioned something to me about possibly not being able to cancel your reservation with DPs. Can anyone confirm this or add to that? The reason I ask is if I get the reservation first and then the renter doesn't send the money, am I on the losing end? Can you hold the reservation for a few days? Any suggestions would be very much appreciated!!!

maybe I should ask. but really didn't think there was any difference in renting DP and points. Since this is my first year with DP - there just might be.

Call MS and ask - they are the experts. your guide is not.

oh - when I have a question like this - start with how many years have you been at MS? - if less than 7 years - say thanks and call back. You want someone with at least 8 years experience if not more. You definitely don't want someone who has only been doing MS for a year or less.

sorry sometimes experience doesn't count - but with detail knowledge it always counts.

I may have misunderstood or not asked the question to my guide right. I am waiting on her to call me now.

I don't quite have a hold on the banking and holding points and cancellations yet. I know DVC is right for us since we go every year!!

Has anyone booked a DP reservation and then cancelled? How do you think that works?
