New to DVC ownership so this must sound NUTS !! HELP !

So we just purchased a resale DVC at AKL .. I am already booked for our November trip yes during Jersey week but as a teacher that is when I can go LOL and it is only the two of us .. ..I however have the chance to go to DL in August and our 7 month window will open soon this will be three of us ... here is my question is there really any chance to get a room at GCV ? I have read nothing good about being able to get a room here even at 7 months because its a small resort . Anyone have any luck with getting a room or wait list ??

If you log onto dvcmember.com you can "check resort availability" and see what's available now.

Yes we have looked to see what is open now and our dates are open but the days seem to be going quickly LOL .. Thanks for the tip !

It is a difficult resort overall. I'm not sure about your exact dates, you may get lucky by being off from a California type schedule. I've been surprised looking at some of our dates (New England) and there was availability. Good luck!

Never hurts to wait list, especially if it's for a short time.

I was able to go grab 5 nights back in Feb. 2014 during Presidents week.....So I wouldn't say Impossible....Not to mention I got the best room too. 6th floor overlooking DCA... Tried for the whole 7 but only got 5....We did Hotel Menage for the other 2 which was a really nice hotel too...

we were able to get a studio there on weekdays late June & mid February. Last year, waitlisted for first week in October on 1st day of 7 month window but it never came thru, expected as it was during Gay Days. Check to see if anything 'special' is going on during your time period of August

OT i visited for the first time during Jersey week last year and was prepared for a nightmare, but found the crowds not as busy as summer, a pleasant surprise.

I'm 4 for 4 at VGC at 7 months. Studio in early May and late September. 1 bedroom in August twice - before D23 (Sunday to Wednesday nights).

I was very nervous about getting a 1 bedroom for a week at VGC for late June this year, but got the reservation on first try right at 7 months. Don't give up hope if it looks like there's no availability within the few days prior to your booking date - it seems there was lots of walking or plans changing, which later opened up availability.

I got lucky one getting 3 nights in a studio just after Christmas. I think I booked the first and last night first and filled in the middle with a waitlist. As others have said, don't give up home. Book what you can as is becomes available and try to fill in the rest by diligently stalking the site.
