Hi all. I'm brand new to the DVC boards so please forgive me if these questions are redundant!! We'd like to stay in a BWV studio for approx 10 days in Jan 2005 (don't have the dates secured yet from work, possibly Jan 13-23). I'm not sure the best way to proceed. Once I have the dates set, should I post my request on the rent/trade board? How far in advance would it be best to do this- the points calculator does not have the points required for 2005 yet. Also, are there any photos on the BWV studios anywhere? I understand the rooms contain a small kitchenette- micro, fridge, etc. but no washer/dryer. Is there a laundry facility within the resort in case I break down (or have a breakdown) and decide to do laundry? How many does a studio hold (we are 2 adults & 2 toddlers who don't spend much time in the room)- would a studio be sufficient? How often is housekeeping provided? We usually stay at either the Dolphin or CR but I'd like something different for that length of stay and have read so many great things about the BWV on these boards. Thank you in advance for any/all of your advice and recommendations!

I can't help you with the rent information as we are owners and never have trouble using our points. January point information is definitely out and actually January is one of the lowest seasons for point usage. We were actually at the BWV this January and loved it. Great weather and the parks were not crowded at all. As to the pictures, I would try this website, and also the official Disney Vacation Club website and one run by Deb Willis at www.wdwig.com. They will all have pictures of the studio. The BWV studios have a queen size bed and a fold out sofa that will sleep two children. We took 9 family members and friends in January and had 2-2 bdrs and 1 studio. You are right there is not a washer/dryer but they are available, I believe on the first floor right off the pool area. We always get a 1 bdr with laundry facilities so we have not used them but know they are available. As to housekeeping you get trash and towel service on day 4, a full cleaning on day 8, trash and towel on day 12, etc. Your first day there counts as day 1. We love the BWV and hope you will too.

I'll try to answer a few of the questions:
Once I have the dates set, should I post my request on the rent/trade board?
yes
How far in advance would it be best to do this- the points calculator does not have the points required for 2005 yet.
as soon as you know your dates - you can get a good estimate of points by knowing how many weekdays and weekends are involved and seeing what last Jan point values were -I really think 2005 is out though.
Is there a laundry facility within the resort in case I break down
Yes, there is a laudry faciliaty and it is free for DVC guests
How many does a studio hold (we are 2 adults & 2 toddlers who don't spend much time in the room
Weusually sat in a studio and travel as 3 adults and one child (9). The rooms have a queen bed and a pull out sofa - the toddlers will probably love sleeping on the sofa for the novelty of it. You can also request a room with a daybed - we have done this, but never gotten the day bed. However, we usully bring along and airmattress for DD and there's adequate room for that (not a lot, but adequate)
often is housekeeping provided?
You get fresh towels every three days, but the time we were there, it was not housekeeping. The emptied the trash, but did not vacume or do any cleaning
for any/all of your advice and recommendations!
We really love BWV, as as long as your toddlers are in stroller I think you'll love it to. If you get a room at the end of the hallway it can seem like and endless walk. I would not want to be doing that walk with todders not in strollers. P.S. If you plan your trip with only one weekend, you'll use alot less points. Good luck

The 2005 points for January are the same as for 2004. The entire month of January is in the Adventure season (lowest number of points required).

For a studio at BWV (preferred view), each Sunday - Thursday night is 12 points and each Friday or Saturday night is 22 points.

If you were able to get a standard view studio (possible, but not probable), it would be 9 points for each Sun-Th night and 20 points for a Friday or Saturday night.

A studio is comparable in size to a deluxe hotel room - IMHO, there is plenty of room for 2 adults and 2 toddlers.

Best wishes -
