I'm sure over the next few months I'll be posting many questions here related to using our new DVC membership. Sorry if these seem silly to some of you vets, but this is actually easier than calling member services or looking in our books.

1st question: I think I know the answer, but is it possible to "split up" a vacation between 2 resorts? I would love to stay at one of the nice, new resorts for some of our stays, but not use the high number of points for the whole week. So, for instance, is it doable to stay 3 nights at Bay Lake Tower (when they open) and 4 nights at Boardwalk Villas?

2nd question: If I were to do the above scenario, and wanted to purchase the DDP for trip, could I just purchase it for the 3 nights at Bay Lake Tower? And if this is possible, would I have to use it on those specific days, or would the plan still be activated during the 4 days at Boardwalk Villas?
I think you know what I'm asking. I love the idea of the DDP, but am not sure I would want it for the whole trip. This would be a great way to break it up, but don't know if this is possible.

Thanks in advance for your help. It's good to be HOME!!!!!! :thumbsup2

Yes, you can split your stay between two resorts, however, I can't answer your quesiton about the DDP since we have never done it. Hold tight, I'm sure you'll get an answer real soon! :thumbsup2

Don't worry about asking a lot of questions. Asking questions and reading the boards is how most of us learned what we know about DVC.

Yes, you can split a stay between 2 resorts. Technically they are two reservations that just happen to be back to back. Its for that reason that you can have DDP for one reservation and not for the next. Some people book two reservations at the same resort, with the only difference being the DDP.

Congratulations on your purchase!

1. Yes you can do a split stay.

2. The DDP is tied to a specific reservation. You could get it for one or both. The credit are valid from the time you checkin until midnight of the day you checkout.

You can split up your stay any way you want in the DVC or Disney Collection resorts, there are no minimum/maximum number of days you must stay, the only limit is on the number of points you have available and what resorts have availability for the dates/rooms you want.

All dining plan credits expire at midnight the day you check out and are required to be purchased for every night of your stay.

In your scenario you have three choices. No DDP, DDP for both stays or DDP for one of your stays. Choice one is a given, choice two means that the credits you earn on your first stay would need to be used by midnight on the day you check out of your first stay. The second set would pick-up on the day you check in at the second resort and expire the day you check out at it.

Choice three is like choice two, except your will not have credits to use for one of your stays as they expire.

Just what I needed to know. Thanks!

You can absolutely split your vacation between two resorts. Or three, or four, if you want. :) There's no limit. You will have two separate reservations; one for BLT and one for BWV. If you'd like, Bell Services will even transfer your luggage over to BWV.

Since you'll have two separate reservations, you'll be able to get the DDP for part of your stay. But, keep in mind that it's only good for the length of the reservation that it's attached to. If you get the DDP for your BLT stay, any unused credits will expire at midnight on the day you check out of BLT. The reverse is also true....if you're staying at BLT first, then BWV, and you get the DDP for your BWV stay, you won't be able to access any of the credits till you check into BWV.
