New to DVC..am I understanding using/banking points right?

We have 270pt at BLT with a April UY, so in April 2009, 270pts will be depositied into our account, and those points are for use for travel until March 31st, 2010. If I will not be traveling within those dates, I have until October 31st to bank all 270 pts, and those bank points will expire in 2011?

So if I am planning a trip for say July 2010 at BLT..and I can make my reservations at 11 months out which would be June 2009. So do I banked my 2009 points, and then use it towards that vacation and then banked my 2010 banks for the following year?

Or if I decide to go for a 1 br magic kingdom view in August, and it takes 468 pts...so again, do I bank my points from this year, and use that along with part of my 2010 points and then bank the rest of the 2010 points?

Is that right???

you can do that, yes.

i think you mean a 2BR, but otherwise, that is an option, yes.

i think you mean a 2BR, but otherwise, that is an option, yes.

Thank you so much! Sorry on my bad math this morning..I DO know that 11 month out for July 2010 travel is in August 2009! LOL

One thing you may need to check on: since BLT won't open until September of '09, it might be that you will not receive points until the use year following the opening: April 2010. I have a December UY, and I know that my points won't be available for booking until December 2009. Or it could be that you will be able to use your April 2009 UY points only after September 2009 -- but since you plan to bank those points it should be ok.

My advice would be to call your guide and find out how it will work.

They will get their April, 2009 points, but they cannot be used for reservations prior to September 1, 2009. They will be able to bank the 2009 points and use them for a stay between April 1, 2010 and March 31, 2011.
