First, you should probably make sure there are rooms available for you to use your DVC. May is filling up quickly. The 50th is really bringing in the crowds.
For the character meal, you might want to do a search. There are tons of threads about them. The basics of it are:
Goofys: its at the
disneyland hotel. They have brunch and dinner. It is buffet style. You'll see Goofy and other various characters. We saw Goofy, Max, Donald, Aladin, and Snow White. It normally gets great reviews. We were a bit disappointed. The character interaction is not as good as I've had at other places.
Minnie and friends at Plaza Inn: Located on Main street inside DL. Breakfast only. Its a served buffet- so, its all you can eat, but someone dishes your plate. Some people feel this type service takes too long. We like it, it means other guests arent touching or sneezing on our food. You will see Minnie and a range of others- reports have been Pluto, Daisy, Pooh, Tigger, Fairy Godmother, etc. Varies from day to day, like Goofys. This is my personal favorite. We've had great interaction at this meal.
Princess meal at Ariels: At DCA. Lunch or dinner. Its a table sevice meal, with a set menu. You have a choice of soup or salad, entree and dessert. You'll see various princesses- Ariel (with legs!), Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, etc.
Lilo and Stitch: at PP hotel. Breakfast only. Buffet or menu service. Lilo, Stitch, sometimes Minnie, Pluto, etc. I've heard the interaction is great! Drawback, unless you are staying at PP, its a bit of a walk.
Chip and Dale at Storytellers: At the GC hotel. Breakfast only. Buffet or menu service. Chip, Dale, and other "woodsy" characters, such as Koda from brother bear, Meeko, etc. The food here gets great reviews. The interaction is more mellow then other meals. Seems to be a good choice for shy children.
Things not to miss: Fireworks. Aladin show in DCA. The rides in fantasyland- they are the original rides, and shouldnt be missed! The 50th movie with Steve Martin is a must do as well.
