new to DL - always gone to WDW

We moved to NO CAL a year ago so we are taking our first trip to DL in October. We are going to the trick or treat party one night. AT WDW we had our traditions and ate at certain restaurants at certain times.

What restaurant would be recommended before the party?

Also my son has some disabilities and we need to get a GAC for him. Where would I get it?

It feels so foreign to have to learn the ins and outs of DL. But I am sure I will be an "old pro" before long.

We will be going back at Christmas as well. Any suggestions for that trip as well?

I think you will get a lot of votes for the Blue Bayou at DL.

Never had to get a GAC pass. I would guess City Hall but someone else who has done it should say.

When are you going at Christmas? Going before or after are two different things.

actually going both. We are going for a quick 4 day trip before Christmas to see the holiday displays. Then back Jan 3-8 or 9 with both our kids, one of who is in Kansas at college

If you haven't already, look into APs. Like WDW, the AP is good for 365 days of first use and is not tied in the calendar year of January 1-December 31.

Disneyland does not offer the non expiration date option on tickets. I've found that if you spend 4-5 days in the parks over the course of 365 days, then an AP is cheaper than buying separate tickets for separate trips. Because your October trip and December trip fall more than 15 days apart, you'll need separate tickets for those trips. I'm not sure how many days are between your December and January trips, but if they're more than 15 days apart the AP is easily the cheaper option. With discounts and everything, it may still be a better option than separate tickets because of the October trip.

If you go the AP route, make sure that none of your potential December/January visits are blackout days. If they are, it may wind up cheaper to get the premium.
