New to Disney Cruise Line

I was just wondering, with DCL do the prices go down or do they have sales?? I am booking with DCL for May 2016. Do you watch for price drops ? Thanks

Book as early as possible. That is your best bet to get the lowest fare. Rarely, if ever, do the prices go down as we get closer and closer to the sailing date. They almost always go higher as the ship starts to fill up. If your cruise is in the latter half of May, then it will probably fill up. The kids will be out of school in the South and high season will be kicking into gear.

Unfortunately, May of 2016 is relatively close in terms of cruise scheduling. I'd be surprised if any discounts came out at all, much less at this stage of the game. So, again, book now before fares get higher.

In the unlikely event that a new discount is offered, you probably won't be allowed to apply it to your existing reservation. Your only other option is to do the math and see if it saves you money to cancel your first reservation and rebook a new res with the discount. Again, not likely, but keep an eye out just in case.

Finally, if you have flexibility in your room location and category, check out the IGT/OGT/VGT sticky at the top of this board for a way to save a good chunk of $$$.

As the previous poster stated book as early as possible because that is your best option for lower prices. I have never known DCL to have a sale. Once you are on a Disney Cruise it's always a good idea to book another cruise (don't worry if you do not have a date in mind just choose the lease expensive cruise as a place holder)because that is where you save a little $ and your deposit is less.

For some cruise dates there may be some last minute restricted stateroom discounts from DCL -IGT/OGT/VGT rooms. If you are flexible, then these last minute deals could provide some savings to you. However, you won't be able to choose your stateroom or deck, it will be assigned to you possibly about 10-14 days out from your cruise date. There are discussions on this forum regarding these restricted staterooms.

Actually, you don't have to pick a future cruise or dummy date anymore. You now just have to pay a flat $200 deposit per stateroom and you can leave the future cruise TBD.

You can also consult cruise fish.net to see if/when prices have gone up (or on the rare occasion, down). I find it helpful too for quickly comparing prices for several different weeks and different categories. Good luck!

For instance, just quick looked and the weeks of May 14 and May 21 on fantasy haven't had any price change since opening day, whereas the 7th and the 28th have. May 14 and 21 might see a drop or a discounted rate, but the 7th and 28th would be very unlikely because they are seemingly selling well.
