New to Discount Codes - please help

Hi,
I have been going to Disney World with my family every year since I was born...at least 27 times. I was talking to someone at work yesterday who mentioned he took a vacation over Christmas by using a code for 40% off. I've never heard of this and as Disney is getting quite expensive for a family of four adults was very interested.

How do these codes work? Where can I find them? How do you book a package with a code - do you book straight through Disney or through another agency?

Any help anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated.
