:wizard: hello...i'm new to this site! i'm planning a trip to disney for my 8 year old daughter and myself for a friend's wedding in feb 09. we've both been there before and loved it! we're planning on staying at all star music. i'm still debating on whether or not to use the dining plan. anyone have any advice? any tips/advice/suggestions for anything at all are welcomed! can't wait to start posting and reading! it's so overwhelming, i don't even know where to start!

Welcome!!!

Personally I love the dining plan, but a lot of peopl here have different opinions on that. I think it is whatever works for you! My mom and I are going for 8 days and we love being able to try different restaurants AND it all being taken care of ahead of time.

Yeah that's what I like about it too. I'm all about convenience (love all inclusives) I have a question about it though..since tips aren't included in the price, do they give you a copy of what the meal would've been so you know how much to tip?

The last time I was there, tips were included...but no matter what we always got a copy of the check that was just a regular copy...then when we paid it was all zero'd out and showed how many credits we used. I have used the dining plan many times before, but my last trip was December when everything was included (even appetizers :( )

Oh ok, that makes sense. How does it work if you don't use something from the meal on a particular day? For example, my friend's wedding is on one of the days we're there so obviously I may not be using all the food credits for that day. Do they carry over to other days? I'm so confused on this whole dining plan! LOL

Yup!! Like we get there on a Saturday but too late to grab dinner so we are saving that credit and using it later in the week. You use the credits how YOU want to use them.

Is your daughter excited?

Ok good. But how does that work? If I don't use the dinner on one day, obviously I'll have credit the next day for dinner too, so can the dinner break down into more snacks or a bigger dinner later on?

YES, my daughter can't wait! Although she's "too cool" for princesses now. She's hoping to run into Hannah Montana or something! LOL I think it's quite possible that I'm more excited than she is though! HEHE

Well remember that you don't have to use it just for dinner...you could do a breakfast or lunch. My mom and I are saving ours and going to California Grille at the Contemporary and that is 2 credits a piece.

Too cool for princesses at only 8!! How sad...lol I am still into princesses and I am 20 years older than her!

Ok I see. How do you know how many credits places are?

I know! Same here! We must be big dorks I guess! HAHA. She just doesn't like anything that's not Hannah Montana...it's like she thinks she's cheating on her or something! lol She's very loyal!

Where are you and your mom staying?

I always check out allearsnet.com to find out what's on the menu and how many credits if I don't know (which after all this time doesn't happen often).

We are staying at All Star Music...which I am not happy about, but it's what we...I mean I could afford, lol. It was supposed to be a trip with my bf but that has since ended...can always rely on my mom!!

Where are you staying?

I haven't checked that site out yet. I just found the FAQ thread and that's very helpful. They have the dining plan brochure on there too so that's a good thread for me to browse.

I'm actually staying at All Star Music also for the same reason...what I can afford! I hear good things about it though, and honestly, anything in Disney is good enough for me! Sorry to hear about the bf. Men are dummies!
