This will be our 3rd trip to disney but first time we are using the DDP, i have grasped the concept of it but still unsure how it works regarding resevations, character meals etc. Should I call and request reservations now for our trip in september and Are we allowed to use credits for the character meals or would we have to pay for it? Tahnks for any and all help regarding this.

Yes, you can use the credits for character meals. I would call now and make ADRs for your September trip, especially since the free dining is out...the restaurants will be booking fast!

You should definitely call now for reservations for those places you wish to eat. September will be very busy for dining and you want to try to get the places and times you want or you may find yourself having difficulty using up your credits. We made ADRs at the 180 day mark and got all the ones we wanted at the times we wanted but the free dining thing hadn't been announced yet and it may be harder now to get exactly what you want.

You can use the credits for the character meals. The one at the castle is 2 credits but most of the rest are only 1. You may have to give a credit card number to reserve that one and then they credit it back and use your credits when you go there.

If you go to the Walt Disney World site you can go to the area about dining and see a list of the restaurants that need 1 or 2 table service credits. What character meals did you have in mind?

we have 2 boys so I would like to do a couple character meals that involve micky, or donald duck..something the boys could get into, I am open to all suggestions givin that on both our previous trips to Disney we did NOT do any charecter meals( I was unsure how they worked and heard they were outragous) so this is all new to me. Also where do I find contact information to make reservations? Thank you for all your help:)

You can make dining reservations by calling 1-800-828-0228. I don't know too much about the character meals because we've never done any. Have fun!

chef mickey's is the best character meal hands down, also one of our favorite's is mickey's backyard bbq

You can check out the menus on this site and also at allears which might help you decide where you would like to eat. For boys Chef Mickeys has Mickey and Goofy and the Garden Grill at epcot has Chip and Dale. A lot of people really like the Liberty Tree Tavern for dinner also and I think they have characters there also. Crystal Palace has the Winnie the Pooh characters. I wish they would get a Pirates or Power Ranger/ Kim Possible meal somewhere.

Great! Can you tell me where Chef mickeys and crytal palace is located? Also Now should I call the 1-800- number for reservations and tell them the dates and time we want to eat there? Sorry I may sound like an idiot but I usally dont make reservations for our local (indiana) resturants, let alone some that are 900 miles away :) hahaha, so Im not sure what Im doing just yet. Thanks again!:confused3

Call the 800 number and they will ask for your confirmation number for your reservation number and or your phone number. They willl then ask for the dates, times and places you want to eat one at a time. When you decide on one they will give you a confirmation number so have paper and pen ready. We have never been asked for the number but always take them with us after learning that accasionally one gets messed up and having the confirmation number will get you into the restaurant. Chef Mickeys is in the Contemporary Resort - you can walk over from the MK or take the monorail. Crystal Palace is in the Magic Kingdom on the way to Adventureland. If you have any problems with the 800 number the other one is 407-WDW DINE. We try to plan so that we are doing a park in the area of where we will be dining on any given day if possible. I personally hate having to try to do this so far in advance but it really is needed if you don't want to be disapppointed. We saw people not able to get into restaurants last year and people reported only being able to eat really early or late which is not always good with children. Once you have these reservations you can always call dining when you are there and try to make changes if you decide you want to but don't count on it.

Another meal you may enjoy with the boys is Donald's Breakfastasaurus at AK. It's themed as an archeological dig site. The food is good and the character interaction is good as well. We like to either get an ADR for an EMH morning around around 10ish, and use it as brunch, or at 7:45 for regular park opening hours. That way, you are already inside the park when it opens to the public at 9:00.

I am new to the DDP also. My question is can you order anything off the menus or are they limited?
