I am a solo traveler and first-time cruiser on the disney wish sept. 2023. Any suggestions on which veranda room to book? I’d like quiet and close to food! Also, if I cancel before 90 days do I get my money back?

I haven't been on the Wish yet, but if you want to be close to the quick service/pool deck food on deck 11, deck 9 would be good. (Or even deck 8.) The quieter floors have floors of staterooms above/below. Deck 10 can have the noise of chairs being moved around.

Yes, if you cancel before pay in full date you get the full amount back. After that there is a penalty amount you pay... you get some of the money back up to a certain date, getting less back the closer the cruise date is.

Thank you so much. I asked the same question on fb and they were so rude!

Most of the folks on the DISboards are kind and there are moderators here to shut things down/delete things when discussions get a little heated. Feel free to ask whatever questions you want, everyone was a first time cruiser once! If you were in a FB group for your cruise, yes, people can be mean...depends on who is running those groups. I generally stay away from those.

If you have booked Concierge, your deposit will be non-refundable. (Okay to change the date and category.)

I purchased trip insurance that was offered right before payment - I’m covered I think?
I would read the fine print on the trip insurance. Also your credit card may offer you some insurance.

Generally speaking solo travelers on DCL can book a verandah room and have plenty of space. Your first thread said 90 days but you want to check what the date that final payment is due for your cruise. I have recently been thinking it is more than 90 days out but it may be different for first timer.

Regardless of room choice I think you will have a great time and hope you are excited. The peeps on this board have a ton of knowledge and will help answer any questions you have! Just ask!

Covered for...? The post you responded to mentioned non-refundable concierge deposit. If you are concierge and cancel, whether that deposit is "covered" by insurance will depend on the reason for cancellation. But with the DCL-offered insurance there is a 75% credit if the insurance denies your claim. Whether or not that is the best coverage for you, only you can decide. Note the current thread about the hurricane and folks with DCL insurance that doesn't cover their flights.

If you are booked non-concierge, your deposit (and any additional payments) is fully-refundable until 89 days out for a cruise less than 6 nights. The DCL-offered insurance is not actually purchased until you PIF (pay-in-full). If you cancel after that point, there is a penalty and you would need to submit to insurance to get reimbursed for the amount of the penalty. Whether that claim is "covered" depends on your reason for cancelling and what the policy includes.

We stayed in room 9660 on deck 9, aft and really liked the location. No one is really wandering back there unless their room is back there. It was also a 7A "partially obstructed" balcony - so there were no neighbors on one side and only a slight overhang in the corner that really didn't block the view at all. And it's just a quick hop up to deck 11 for food.
